    Nordic Regional Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Finland

    nordic-regional-airlinesNordic Regional Airlines flight AY-487 made an emergency landing in Joensuu, Finland, on December 11th.

    The plane was flying from Helsinki, Finland, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All 30 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    The flight was being operated on behalf of Finnair.

    Monarch Cargo Plane Lost in Nassau

    What: Monarch Aircraft Group (fort Lauderdale Florida) twin-engine Beechcraft 18 cargo plane en route from Fort Lauderdale to Nassau
    Where: Nassau
    When: December 14, 2010
    Who: 2 passengers aboard
    Why: The cargo plane was en route to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport when it vanished from radar.

    It crashed in the Atlantic, north of Nassau. A man’s body has been recovered. A U.S. Coast guard helicopter and 3 Royal Bahamas vessels are searching for the missing passenger. Neither has been identified.

    Singapore Airlines Cargo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Singapore Airlines Cargo flight SQ-7359 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 11th.

    The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane took off for Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Henan Crash in China, 91 Aboard, 43 fatalities

    What: Shenzhen Airlines/Kunpeng/Henan Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Harbin to Yichun China
    Where: Yichun China
    When: Aug 24th 2010
    Who: 91 passengers (including 5 children) and 5 crew; 43 immediate deaths, 3 serious injuries and 50 minor injuries
    Why: The plane overran the runway—and departed the runway on landing—at Lindu airport in Yichun city in Heilongjiang province at 10:10 p.m, split on impact, exploded, and burst into flames. 53 people were rescued, three of whom with serious injuries.

    Ten survivors were transferred Yichun Rehabilitation Hospital, which has burn specialists. eight survivors were taken to Yichun Forestry Hospital.

    The plane was a two-year old Embraer 190 leased from RBS Aviation Capital. Mesa Air Group was a financial partner in Kunpeng Airlines. The airline is now called Henan Airlines, is based in Henan province and is partially owned by Air China.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Detroit

    United Airlines flight UA-4007 made an emergency landing in Detroit, Michigan, on June 26th.

    The plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport, South Carolina, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed on board.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Punta Gorda-Bound Allegiant Air Flight Suffers Bird Strike

    Allegiant Air flight G4-1633 suffered a bird strike near Cleveland, Ohio, on October 9th.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A319-100 plane was departing for Punta Gorda, Florida.

    The crew continued the flight and landed safely in Punta Gorda.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
