What: Shenzhen Airlines/Kunpeng/Henan Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Harbin to Yichun China Where: Yichun China When: Aug 24th 2010 Who: 91 passengers (including 5 children) and 5 crew; 43 immediate deaths, 3 serious injuries and 50 minor injuries Why: The plane overran the runway—and departed the runway on landing—at Lindu airport in Yichun city in Heilongjiang province at 10:10 p.m, split on impact, exploded, and burst into flames. 53 people were rescued, three of whom with serious injuries.
Ten survivors were transferred Yichun Rehabilitation Hospital, which has burn specialists. eight survivors were taken to Yichun Forestry Hospital.
The plane was a two-year old Embraer 190 leased from RBS Aviation Capital. Mesa Air Group was a financial partner in Kunpeng Airlines. The airline is now called Henan Airlines, is based in Henan province and is partially owned by Air China.

What: Korean Air Boeing 747-400 en route from Seoul to Dallas Where: Seattle When: Oct 16th 2010 Why: While en route, the crew noticed the scent of something burning. The pilot diverted to Seattle where they made a safe landing. An inspection ensued, and the problem was found to be an electrical short. The plane was back in service within four hours.

Update: The investigation team formed to probe into Friday’s plane crash on Monday (April 23) visited the site and collected evidence. What: Bhoja Air Boeing 737-200 en route from Karachi to Islamabad Where: Islamabad When: Apr 20th 2012 Who: 121 passengers and 6 crew Why: The plane (reported as #AP-BKC a 27 year old Boeing) took off from Karachi, impacted the ground 3-6 miles from Islamabad while on approach and burst into flames in a rural location(Hussain Abad village) near Chaklala Air Base. No survivors were found, and ten houses on the ground were affected. The plane lost contact with the control tower minutes before landing. There was no distress call. There are conflicting reports that the plane was on fire and was not on fire before it impacted the ground. Some reports say the plane was struck by lightning. There was a thunderstorm at the time of the accident. The fire/fireball after the crash does not appear to have engulfed the entire debris area, according to photos of the scene.
Debris from the crash is said to cover a large muddy area. The area has not been cordoned off; reporters and others are swarming over the crash site.
This is reported to be the first Bhorja flight on this route. The jet left at 17:00 and was due to arrive at 18:50.
The flight data recorder has been recovered along with 110 bodies (so far.)
The number of people listed as passengers varies from 127 to 130 aboard.

A single-engine propeller plane crash-landed at Rapid City Regional Airport, South Dakota, on the night of February 6.
The incident happened when the pilot and his wife were flying from Wyoming to Wisconsin.
Authorities said the aircraft’s electrical system malfunctioned around 80 miles from Rapid City. The pilot and his wife then used their iPads to navigate to the airport in the dark.
Landing gear could not be deployed due to the electrical system failure and the plane had to land on its belly. Fire officials said sparks were shooting from the fuselage as the plane skidded on the runway.
Both occupants of the plane remained unharmed. Their identities have not yet been released.
The incident is under investigation.

What: SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A330-300 en route from Oslo to Newark,NJ Where: Faroe Islands When: Apr 22nd 2012 Who: 264 passengers Why: While en route, the plane developed engine problems in one engine. Pilots shut it down, and diverted to Bergen Norway. Pilots made a safe landing in Bergen over an hour later, and passengers were delayed eight and a half hours.

What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200 en route from Brasilia to Sao Paulo Where: Sao Paulo When: June 24 2010 Who: 171 people on board Why: On approach to Congonhas, the pilot was notified of a flight leaving Congonhas, and had to maneuver according to ATC direction, then continued on to land at Congonhas. Meanwhile, one of the flight attendants landed on a passenger. No one was injured in either event.
The plane causing the evasive maneuver was an Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante.
