Medical Helicopter Crashes in Ohio; 3 Dead

An air ambulance helicopter crashed in Vinton County, Ohio, on January 29th.

The incident happened when the Bell 407 helicopter was heading from Grove City to Pomeroy, Ohio, to pick up a patient.

There were three people aboard at the time, including the pilot, Jennifer L. Topper, 34, of Sunbury, Ohio, and nurses, Rachel L. Cunningham, 33, of Galloway, Ohio, and Bradley J. Haynes, 48, of London, Ohio. All of them were killed in the crash.

Seven Government Officials Killed in Sudan Helicopter Crash

A helicopter carrying local government officials crashed in Al-Qadarif, Sudan, on December 9th.

The incident happened when the officials, including Al-Qadarif governor Mirghani Saleh and members of the security committee, were on a security inspection flight.

Seven people were killed in the crash. The deceased include governor Mirghani Saleh and six other officials.

Several others were injured and were taken to a hospital.

Newlyweds Killed in Helicopter Crash While Leaving Their Wedding

A helicopter crashed near Uvalde, Texas, on November 3rd.

The incident happened when the aircraft was carrying a newlywed couple away from their wedding.

Three people were killed in the crash, including the young couple and the pilot. They were identified as pilot Gerald Green Lawrence, and the passengers Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman Byler.

25 Killed in Afghanistan Helicopter Crash

An Afghan army helicopter crashed in Farah Province, Afghanistan, on October 31st.

The incident happened when the aircraft was carrying twenty-five people from Anar Dara district of Farah Province to Herat province.

All occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash. The deceased include the deputy corps commander of the western zone and local politicians.

Authorities believe the accident happened due to bad weather.

2 Dead, 2 Injured in New York Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crashed in Beekmantown, New York, on October 30th.

Authorities said the aircraft got tangled in the power lines and caught fire before it went down.

Two occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash. Two others were injured.

It is believed that the helicopter was contracted by Northline Utilities.

Helicopter Crashes in Sebring, FL; 2 Dead, 1 Injured

A helicopter crashed into a mobile home in Sebring, Florida, on October 31st.

The helicopter was carrying two people when it went down in Sebring Falls Mobile Home Park.

Both occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot Christopher Lord, 45, and his passenger Christopher Brugger, 52.

One person on the ground was injured and was taken to a hospital.

Owner of Leicester City F.C. Among 5 Dead in Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium in Leicester, England, on October 27th.

The incident happened when the helicopter was carrying five people, including the owner of Leicester City F.C. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, a passenger, and the pilot.

All occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash.

Helicopter Crashes in Puerto Rico; 1 Killed, 3 Injured

A private helicopter crashed on a beach in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on June 30th.

It is believed that the aircraft was carrying four people when it went down.

One person was killed in the crash. He was identified as Carlos Virelles Jimenez, 53. Three others were injured.

The cause of crash is being investigated.

US Military Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

A US military helicopter made an emergency landing at Kumamoto Airport, Japan, on April 20th.

Authorities said the crew decided to make an emergency landing after the UH-1 helicopter developed an issue with the engine cooling system.

The aircraft landed safely. No injuries were reported.

The helicopter belongs to the US Marine Corps Futenma air station.

Two Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash at Fort Campbell

A U.S. military helicopter crashed during routine training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on April 6th.

Two soldiers were aboard the AH-64E Apache helicopter when it went down.

Both soldiers were killed in the crash. They were identified as Chief Warrant Officer 3 Ryan Connolly, 37, and Warrant Officer James Casadona, 28.

An investigation into the cause of crash is underway.

A medical helicopter made an emergency landing in Redington Pass, Arizona, on April 2nd.

The LifeNet helicopter was carrying four people, including a patient, when it suffered an engine failure.

The pilot subsequently made a safe landing near mile marker 2 on Redington Road.

Another helicopter transported the patient to a hospital.

Military Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Mississippi

A military helicopter made an emergency landing in Prentiss County, Mississippi, on March 23rd.

Authorities said the pilot decided to make an emergency landing after the Apache helicopter, heading to Tupelo, Mississippi, developed a transmission problem.

The aircraft landed safely near Booneville. There were two people aboard at the time; both remained unharmed.

The aircraft was returning after a training mission in Tennessee.

The Sikorsky helicopter, en-route to New York, had to return after one of its engines failed.

The couple boarded a commercial flight after the helicopter landed back safely.

Sheriff’s Office Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Alabama

A Shelby County Sheriff’s Office helicopter made an emergency landing in a field near Logan Martin Dam in Alabama, on March 15th.

The incident happened after the aircraft came in contact with power lines.

Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

The aircraft was participating in search for a missing kayaker.

13 Killed in Mexico Helicopter Crash

A military helicopter crashed on top of two vehicles in Oaxaca, Mexico, on February 16th.

The incident happened when the helicopter, carrying officials including Mexican Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida and Oaxaca’s governor Alejandro Murat, was attempting to land at an airfield in Santiago Jamiltepec.

All the occupants survived the crash, however, thirteen people on the ground were killed.

The officials on-board the helicopter were surveying damage caused by the recent earthquake.
