    Cargo Fire Diverts Singapore Airlines Flight to Kuala Lumpur Airport

    Singapore airlinesSingapore Airlines flight SQ425 made an emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, at around 3:55 p.m. on June 21.

    The plane, en-route from Mumbai, India to Singapore, declared emergency after fire broke out in the cargo hold.

    The plane landed uneventfully. According to Selangor Bomba operations Chief Mohd Sani Harul, “The fire had already been put out by the plane’s fire-fighting mechanism when it landed.”

    The cause of fire is being investigated.

    Avianca Plane Rejects Takeoff in Brazil due to Bird Strike

    AviancaAvianca Plane had to reject takeoff at Sao Paulo- Congonhas Airport, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 4th.

    The Airbus A320-200 was about to takeoff for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when it ingested a bird, prompting the crew to abort taking off.

    The plane returned to the apron.

    The passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

    VivaAeroBus Flight Returns to Mexico City due to Landing Gear Issue

    VivaAeroBus flight VB-3490 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mexico City, Mexico, on August 16th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Puerto Escondido, Mexico, but had to turn back due to an issue with the landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Who: 176 passengers
    Why: A US plane airlifting flood refugees from the northern city of Skardu was struck by an unidentified technical problem, and made an emergency landing. There were no injuries

    Air Serbia Flight Diverts to Paphos due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Air Serbia flight JU-7210 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Paphos, Cyprus, on September 19th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Belgrade, Serbia, to Hurghada, Egypt, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
