The Boeing 757-200, heading from Caracas, Venezuela to Miami, Florida, was mid-air when the crew needed to shut down its right hand engine, causing the plane to divert.
The plane landed safely.
All 198 passengers and crew members aboard remained unhurt.

A JetBlue flight had to make an emergency landing at Las Americas Airport, Dominican Republic, on January 9.
Authorities said the pilots declared emergency after one or more individuals pointed a laser beam on the plane, impairing pilot’s visibility. The flight was coming from New York at the time.

According to the Special Airport Security Agency, only pilot and the co-pilot were aboard the plane when it lost communication with the control tower.
Civil Aviation spokesperson Hector Olivo said the search operation for the aircraft, which was registered to a company based out of Dover, Delaware, was launched on Thursday.

Why: While en route NW of Bermuda, the plane indicated smoke in the electronic bay, and did a flyby for emergency services to view the right side of the plane. There was no visible smoke.
The pilot diverted to Bermuda and made a safe landing. The plane underwent an inspection prior to leaving for Punta Cana.

Why: After takeoff, the Condor Boeing’s left inboard aileron got stuck in the up position. The crew continued at low speed to Santo Domingo where the plane made a safe landing. A replacement jet was provided to complete the route to Frankfurt.
