    FAA Airworthiness Directive Regarding Boeing 787-8

    All Boeing 787 Dreamliners currently in service are being required to confirm that fuel line connectors have been properly installed. Fuel leaks in Dreamliners were traced to a manufacturing flaw at Boeing plants.

    The FAA said “A safety order mandated inspection of fuel line couplings in the engine pylons to verify the couplings are correctly assembled and installed”

    Southwest Airlines Boeing Bird Strike

    A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Raleigh Durham to Chicago suffered a bird strike after takeoff.

    The right engine lost power. Pilots shut down the engine.

    Pilots made a safe landing in Raleigh Durham with emargency services on standby.

    No injuries were reported. A alternative Southwest flight was provided for passengers.

    Hungarian Fighter Jets Intercept Blue Air Plane After Loss of Communication

    Blue Air flight 0B-405 was intercepted by two Hungarian fighter jets on May 31st.

    The Boeing 737-500 plane heading from Constanta, Romania, to Paris-Beauvais Airport, France, was intercepted after it lost contact with ATC in the Hungarian air space.

    The communication was subsequently restored and the plane continued for a safe landing in France.

    Ryanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dublin

    Ryanair flight FR-161 made an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, on February 14.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane, heading to Copenhagen, Denmark, was forced to return due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All 171 passengers and 6 crew members remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Southwest Emergency Landing in Jacksonville

    What: Southwest Flight 3726 passenger plane en route from Orlando to Washington, DC
    Where: emergency landing in Jacksonville
    When: 1/24/2009 2:45 pm Saturday
    Who: 106 people on board
    Why: After the pilot noticed smoke in the cockpit, the plane landed in Jacksonville. Usually when a pilot smells smoke, there’s a problem with the AC or Hydraulic fan. After the incident, technicians studied the plane and passengers were accommodated. There were no injuries.

    Small Plane Crashes in Clermont; No Injuries

    Small planeA small plane crashed in a residential neighborhood of Clermont, Florida, on March 1.

    Authorities said the pilot was attempting to land the plane at his house situated behind the 1700 block of Nature Cove Lane but it continued through the fences due a tail wind and rammed into a tree.

    The pilot, identified as Dave Harmon, remained unharmed and the aircraft sustained minor damage.

    The FAA is investigating.
