    Plane Carrying Taylor Hicks Makes Emergency Landing after Engine Explodes Mid-Air

    A plane carrying American Idol winner Taylor Hicks made an emergency landing in Jasper, Alabama, on October 26th.

    The plane was heading from Tennessee to Alabama when one of the engines exploded, prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. All four people aboard, including Hicks, his pilot, and two passengers, remained safe.

    “I felt like my life, and kind of all our lives, flashed before our eyes a little bit…We were very thankful and very blessed that we had a wonderful, graceful, amazing pilot who was able to handle this situation,” Hicks said.

    Small Plane Returns to Van Nuys Airport

    A private Learjet aircraft had to return to Van Nuys Airport, Los Angeles, California, shortly after it took off on the morning of November 3.

    According to the Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Ian Gregor, the pilot was forced to return after a gear indicator turned on.

    The plane circled over the airport before it safely landed before 8 a.m. No one was injured.

    The plane is registered to Glenbrook Capital Logistics of Wilmington, Delaware.

    Jetblue Plane Diverts to Bermuda After to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Jetblue flight B6-1468 had to divert and make an emergency landing at L.F. Wade International Airport, Bermuda, on March 10th.

    The Airbus A321-200, flying from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to New York, had to divert due to cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 207 people aboard remained safe.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Returns to North Carolina due to Bird Strike

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight WN-2573 returned and made an emergency landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, Morrisville, North Carolina, on October 30.

    The Boeing 737-300, heading towards Tampa, Florida, had to return in emergency due to bird strike.

    The aircraft sustained minor damage on its left side.

    All 124 passengers and 5 crew members aboard remained unhurt.

    Japan Transocean Air Plane Returns to Japan after Cracked Windshield

    Japan Transocean Air flight NU-44 had to return and make an emergency landing at Naha Airport, Okinawa, Japan, on May 6th.

    The Boeing 737-400 flying to Nagoya, Japan, had to return after the first officer’s windshield cracked.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 148 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

    Air Canada Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Ottawa

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC8953 operated by Jazz Aviation made an emergency landing at Macdonald-Cartier International Airport in Ottawa, Canada, at around 6:30 a.m. ET on August 13.

    Pilots made an emergency landing after smoke was discovered in the cabin of the plane which was heading from Fredericton, New Brunswick to Toronto.

    The flight with 69 passengers and 4 crew members on board landed safely according to Ottawa Airport Authority.

    Air Canada spokesperson Debra Williams said, “Passengers were moved by ground transportation into the terminal and were booked on alternate flights to their destination. We apologize to our passengers for this incident and inconvenience.”

    Air Canada engineers will inspect the plane to determine the cause of the smoke.
