    Southwest SF to Denver Emergency Landing

    What: Southwest Airways Boeing 737 en route from San Francisco to Denver
    Where: Oakland
    When: August 28, 2012 7:48 a.m.
    Who: 143 passengers
    Why: The flight made an emergency landing at Oakland due to cabin pressurization problems. Fire and rescue crews were on standby.

    Passengers were provided another flight which arrived in Denver two hours late.

    Thai Military Helicopter Crash Kills 9

    helicopterA Thai military helicopter crashed into a field in Muang district, Phayao province of Thailand on November 17.

    The Bell 212 helicopter, heading from an army base in Phayao to Chiang Rai province, crashed just about 10 minutes into the flight.

    There were 9 people aboard, including the Deputy Third Army Area commander, Maj Gen Songpon Thongjeen. According to the deputy army spokesperson Sirichan Ngathong, all 9 people aboard the ill-fated chopper were killed.

    The cause of crash is not clear at the moment.

    Emergency Landing in Jackson

    What: Continental/Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Knoxville to Houston
    Where: Jackson, Mississippi
    When: Sept 14 2011
    Who: 52 passengers on board
    Why: After takeoff, there was a popping noise in the cabin, and smoke ensued.

    The pilots diverted to Jackson where they made a safe landing.

    Army Apache Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Leak

    An Army Reserve Apache helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a rural field near County Road 215 in Grimes County, Texas, on January 28.

    The helicopter was flying from Conroe and had just refueled near Bryan-College Station when the pilot noticed a hydraulic leak and decided to make an emergency landing.

    There were two people aboard at the time; neither of them were injured.

    The helicopter belonging to the 1st Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment was repaired overnight and was able to fly back to Conroe next morning.

    4 Die in a Single Engine Piper Crash

    piperlausanneFour people were killed after a single engine Piper 32 plane, en route from Hereford, Texas, to Gettysburg, South Dakota crashed in foggy weather, in a wind farm. According to FAA records, the plane was registered to Donald J. Fischer, from Gettysburg, South Dakota.

    The incident occured, when the passengers of ill-fated airplane were returning after attending a sale of live cattle and embryos in Hereford. The wreckage of crashed plane was found on Monday, April 28, at the South Dakota Wind Energy Center, located towards south of Highmore and containing 27 turbines, having a height of 213 feet, excluding the blade length.

    Three passengers and the pilot were pronounced dead in the incident. Luce Funeral Home confirmed the pilot’s identity as Fischer, 32, while Lien Funeral Home revealed identities of 2 passengers as Logan Rau, hailing from Java and Brent Beitelspacher, belonging to Bowdle. The identity of third passenger is not known at the moment.

    A spokesperson of Florida-based NextEra Energy Inc., Steve Stengel confirmed that the incident caused damage to turbine. He also said, “It’s been so foggy up there and we haven’t had a chance to investigate.”

    NTSB is investigating the cause of accident.
