    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Miami

    British Airways flight BA-209 made an emergency landing in Miami, Florida, on October 13th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane flying from Heathrow Airport, England, was on final approach to Miami when the crew reported an issue with the flaps and went around.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Delta/Chautauqua Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Boston,MA to Columbus,OH
    Where: Boston
    When: Jan 2nd 2010
    Who: 38 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: Right after takeoff, the plane developed smoke in the cabin. Oxygen masks were deployed, and the plane returned to the airport to land on the runway, and taxi to the gate.

    Passengers Jump out as Loganair Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Netherlands

    LoganairA Loganair charter flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Rotterdam The Hague Airport in the Netherlands on September 30.

    The Saab 340 aircraft, carrying 17 passengers, departed for Aberdeen, Scotland, but had to turn back shortly afterwards due to a hydraulic leak. Passengers reported seeing red fluid leaking out from the aircraft’s wing.

    According to an airline spokesperson, “The aircraft landed safely at the airport around 4.35pm local time where it was brought to a halt, but subsequently rolled just off the runway due to an issue with the hydraulics.” The passengers had to jump out of the emergency exits.

    The airline arranged a replacement service for the passengers.

    Where: Istanbul

    Who: 203 passengers
    Why: The Korean Air flight diverted to Ataturk Airport due to a windshield crack. The flight made a safe landing.

    Passengers were provided hotel accommodations until the replacement jet was provided.

    Azores Airlines Plane Returns to Portugal after Bird Strike

    Azores AirlinesAzores Airlines flight S4-134 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Lajes Field, Lajes Air Base, Portugal, on July 15th.

    The Airbus A320-200 en-route to Lisbon, Portugal had just departed Lajes’s runway when the crew reported a bird strike resulting in engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. All 109 people onboard remained unharmed.

    The flight was cancelled.

    Israir Airlines Flight Evacuated at Budapest Airport

    Israir Airlines flight 6H-716 was evacuated at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, Hungary, on March 23rd.

    The plane was preparing to depart for Tel Aviv, Israel, when a nearby tow tug began emitting smoke.

    The evacuation slides were deployed as the smoke entered the aircraft cabin.

    One passenger fell off the emergency slide and sustained serious injuries.

    All other passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
