    Airbus Navigation Fault Sends Jet Back to Dublin

    What: Aer Lingus Airbus A330-300 en route from Dublin to New York
    Where: Shannon
    When: Jan 11th 2010
    Who: not available
    Why: While en route, just over the Atlantic, the flight developed a navigation problem. The crew turned the Airbus around and returned to Dublin where they made a safe landing. Repairs were made or maintenance was completed, apparently; and a little over an hour and a half later, the same plane re-embarked to New York.

    Air India Turbulence Response under Investigation by Directorate General of Civil Aviation

    What: Air India’s A330 en route from Delta to Shanghai
    Where: Shanghai
    When: July 5, 2012
    Who: 60 passengers, 11 crew
    Why: After 2 crew and 18 passengers were injured by turbulence, the flight crew Captain S.P. Suri and first officer Captain Rajesh Mulchandani, were suspended.

    Rather than diverting to the nearest airport, Kolkata, at the request of the injured, the pilots continued to land in Shanghai. The pilot reported only mild turbulence, and that passengers and the cabin crew were told to belt up.

    The severe turbulence which tossed around the plane was not reported. The DGCA has ordered a probe.

    Southwest #762 Diverts to Boise

    While en route from Seattle to Phoenix, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 flight 762 suffered a cracked windshield. Pilots made an emergency landing in Boise at Gowen Field. The plane went to maintenance, and the 143 passengers had to wait for another flight to get to Phoenix.

    The cabin never lost air pressure but had to dump fuel to make a safe landing.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Munich

    Lufthansa flight LH-2135 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on January 21st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Muenster, Germany, was on final approach to Munich when the crew reported a strong acid odor in the cockpit.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Etihad Airways Plane makes Safe Landing in India After Tyre Burst

    Etihad Airways flight EY-204 made a safe landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, India, on July 31st.

    The Airbus A340-600 flying from Abu Dhabi, UAE, got a number of its tyres burst during the roll out.

    The plane was disabled after coming to a stop on the runway.

    All 196 passengers and 13 crew members remained safe.

    CSA Czech Airlines Plane Returns to Amsterdam due to Engine Vibrations

    CSACSA Czech Airlines flight OK-619 had to return and make an emergency landing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands, on November 1.

    The Airbus A319-100, en-route to Prague, Czech Republic, had to return after its right side engine emitted a loud bang then started vibrating.

    The aircraft landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
