    FAA official Lost during Proficiency Check in Jackson MS

    What: Robinson R44 practicing aerial maneuvers operating out of Hawkins Field Airport
    Where: duplex-style house about half a mile east of Hawkins Field airport in Jackson, MississippI
    When: Tues September 1, 2009 at 1932
    Who: Two FAA officials, pilot Charles Farmer and pilot Larry Wells of Crystal Springs
    Why: While in the course of a standard pilot proficiency check, it appeared the helicopter was experiencing engine trouble and trying to land, when the helicopter fell from the sky, clipped a tree and crashed into the unoccupied half a duplex house in Jackson Mississippi. The two victims both of whom worked for the FAA were taken to the Mississippi Medical Center, where Charles Farmer died. Larry Wells sustained serious injuries.

    The 2007 R-44 Rotorcraft belonged to WEBB GROUP FLP of Jackson Ms.

    Dallas: American Eagle ERJ Lands Safely with Hydraulic Failure

    What: American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Dallas to Dayton Ohio
    Where: Dallas
    When: Jul 11th 2009
    Who: 43 passengers
    Why: Just after takeoff, the flight experienced issues with hydraulics. The landing gear failed to extend. Nearly an hour after leaving, the flight landed safely at the airport of origin, although “alternate gear extension” implementation was required.

    American Eagle is affiliated with American Airlines.

    FlyEgypt Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cairo

    FlyEgypt flight FT-241 made an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on February 5th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Alexandria, Egypt, to Kuwait City, Kuwait, was diverted after the crew noticed smell of smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet Airways emergency landing

    On Feb 25, 2013, a Jet Airways flight with 135 passengers was en route from Mumbai to Kolkata when the plane developed a problem and diverted to NSC Bose International airport.

    Pilots were alerted of a landing gear problem. It is not known if the flight made a flyby inspection, but ti made a safe landing at 10:22 pm.

    Passengers and crew disembarked safely.

    The problem is suspected to be hydraulic.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to San Francisco After Bird Strike

    United Airlines flight UA-5541 had to return and make an emergency landing in San Francisco, California, on November 22nd.

    The plane took off for Redmond, Oregon, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained safe.
