Fighter Jets Escort Korean Airlines Plane to Stuttgart, Germany

Korean Airlines flight KE-917 was intercepted by two supersonic fighter jets on July 15th.

The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Zurich, Switzerland, was over Berlin, Germany, when it lost communication with the ATC.

The German Air Force subsequently dispatched two fighter jets that escorted the plane to Stuttgart, Germany.

The plane landed safely in Stuttgart. All two hundred and eleven passengers aboard remained unharmed.

Hungarian Fighter Jets Intercept Blue Air Plane After Loss of Communication

Blue Air flight 0B-405 was intercepted by two Hungarian fighter jets on May 31st.

The Boeing 737-500 plane heading from Constanta, Romania, to Paris-Beauvais Airport, France, was intercepted after it lost contact with ATC in the Hungarian air space.

The communication was subsequently restored and the plane continued for a safe landing in France.

Military Jets Escort Hawaii-Bound American Airlines Plane

A Hawaii-bound American Airlines plane was escorted by two fighter jets on May 19th.

American Airlines flight 31 was heading from Los Angeles, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii, when a passenger tried to break into the cockpit. The crew reported the disturbance, which prompted the Pacific Command to dispatch a pair of fighter jets for escort.

The passenger, identified as Turkish national Anil Uskanil, 25, was restrained and subdued before the plane landed in Honolulu.

“The aircraft is currently on the ground, and the individual who disrupted the flight has been detained,” the Department of Homeland Security said.

Fighter Jets Intercept Jet Airways Plane After Loss of Communication

Jet Airways flight 9W-118 was intercepted by two fighter planes due to loss of communication on February 16.

The Boeing 777-300 plane was heading from Mumbai, India, to London, England, when it lost communication with the ATC.

Two fighter jets intercepted the aircraft and subsequently, the communication was restored.

The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Female Chinese Fighter Pilot Dies in Plane Crash

A Chinese fighter plane crashed near Tangshan in Hebei, China, on November 12th.

The aircraft, piloted by one of the first female fighter pilots in the country, was participating in a routine training exercise when it went down.

The pilot Yu Xu, 30, was killed in the crash while her co-pilot was able to eject before the impact using a parachute. He was injured and was taken to hospital.

Authorities confirmed that both pilots belonged to the Bayi Aerobatics Team of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

Fighter Jet Escorts Volaris Airlines Plane after Loss of Communication

volarisVolaris Airlines flight Y4-9023 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland, United Kingdom, on October 28th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane was heading from Toulouse, France. to Keflavik, Iceland, when it lost communication with the ATC. A fighter jet was dispatched for escort.

The passenger plane, escorted by the fighter jet, then diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport where it landed uneventfully.

Everyone aboard remained safe.

Swiss Fighter Jet Crashed after Mid-Air Collision in Netherlands

A Swiss fighter jet collided with another plane and crashed in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, on June 9th.

The incident happened when the planes were rehearsing for an international air show. Authorities said the Swiss F-5E air demonstration fighter jet crashed into a pond after the collision.

The pilot ejected from the plane before the impact and was not seriously injured.

The second plane sustained damage on the rear fin.

The incident is being investigated.

Delta Airlines Flight Intercepted by Greek F-16 Fighter Jets

According to the airline, the radio contact with Greek ATC was lost for a brief period of time when the Boeing 767-400, en-route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Kuwait, was transiting through Greek Airspace.

The fighter jets returned to the airbase as the communication was restored.

The flight continued to Kuwait.

CityJet Plane Intercepted by Typhoon Fighters in England due to Communication Loss

CityJetCityJet flight AF-1558 was intercepted by two British Typhoon fighter planes upon entering in British Airspace in Yorkshire, England, on May 2nd.

The Avro RJ-85 was flying from Paris, France, when it lost radio communication with the ATC right after entering the British Airspace.

The plane accompanied by Typhoons landed safely Newcastle Airport, UK.

No one was injured.

British Airways Plane Intercepted by Hungarian Fighter Jets

British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA-108 was intercepted by fighter aircrafts after it lost communication with Hungary’s ATC on April 30th.

The Boeing 777-200, heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to London, England, lost contact with the ATC while it was entering Hungary’s Airspace.

The Hungarian Authorities dispatched two Saab Gripen fighter planes to intercept the plane, however, the communication was restored shortly afterwards. The fighter jets returned to the base while the flight continued to London.

The incident is being investigated.

F-15 Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

An F-15 fighter jet had to make an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport, Oklahoma, on April 14th.

The plane was one of the two returning from a training session at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. Authorities said the pilot decided to divert due to a “minor system malfunction.”

The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

Israeli Warplanes Came Dangerously Close to Ryanair Passenger Plane

Two Israel Air Force F-16 fighter jets almost crashed into a Ryanair passenger plane near Ovda Airport, Israel, on March 1st.

The passenger plane was en-route from Krakow, Poland, to Ovda airport, Israel, when two fighter planes, engaged in the training exercises, came “dangerously close”. The Ryanair pilots changed the course at the last minute to avert the crash.

The flight FR-2616 was carrying 162 passengers at the time.

The airline confirmed the incident but said that “These military aircraft were at all times over 3 miles away from the Ryanair aircraft, so the reports of a ‘nearly crash’ or ‘evasive manoeuvres’ are all false and invented. All passengers on board the Ryanair aircraft noticed nothing, since our aircraft never diverted from its cleared flight path to Ovda.”

Pilot Feared Dead after F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes in Arizona

An F-16 fighter jet crashed in a remote area near Bagdad, Yavapai County, Arizona, on January 21.

The jet that took off from Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix, was carrying a student pilot from Taiwan when it went down. Authorities said the pilot was practicing air-to-air combat with an instructor as part of training.

According to Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus, commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke, “All indications lead me to believe that the pilot did not survive the accident…But until we have 100 percent confirmation, we will continue search efforts.”

The cause of crash is not clear at the moment.

Condor Airlines Jet Diverts to Denver International Airport

condor airlinesA Condor Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Denver International Airport, Colorado, on August 28.

Authorities said the plane, en-route from Las Vegas to Frankfurt, was escorted by two fighter jets after the pilot declared an in-flight emergency due to a ‘disturbance on the plane.’

The Boeing 767 landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, “The disturbance aboard the flight was deemed a customer service issue and not a life-threatening matter and the airline handled the matter according to their policy for customer service related matters. No arrest was made.”

Two Fighter Jets Make Emergency Landing in South Korea

Two F-16 jets made an emergency landing at Muan International Airport, South Korea, on April 7.

Air Force officials said the Kunsan Air Base fighter jets had to land in emergency after one of them experienced engine trouble. The jets departed from Gunsan Airport and were on a training flight over Jeolla-do when the malfunction was reported.

The planes landed safely.

The U.S. Forces Korea is investigating.

MiG-31 Fighter Jet Crashed in Southern Russia

MiG-31A MiG-31 fighter jet crashed around 25 kilometres away from Armavir town of southern Russia, at 7:38 a.m. on September 4.

According to the authorities, the right landing gear of the aircraft did not function when the pilot tried to land during a training. After multiple attempts, the jet ran out of fuel and the chief flight controller directed both the pilots aboard to fly to a safe location and bail out.

The Russian Defense Ministry officials confirmed that nobody was hurt in the crash. They also said that there was no ammunition on the plane.
