El Al flight LY-5425 made an emergency landing in Tel Aviv, Israel, on November 15th.

The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back due to an issue with the landing gear.

The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and ninety people aboard remained unharmed.

Lufthansa Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tel Aviv

Lufthansa flight LH-695 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tel Aviv, Israel, on September 21st.

The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.

The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and sixty people aboard remained unharmed.

Up Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Israel

Up AirlinesUp Airlines flight LY-2653 made an emergency landing in Tel Aviv, Israel, on August 18th.

The plane had just departed for Kiev, Ukraine, when the crew received information that tire debris was found on the runway and decided to return.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 182 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

Egypt Air Plane Makes Safe Landing in Israel after Communication Loss

EgyptAirEgypt Air flight 4D-54 had to be intercepted before it made a safe landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel, on April 23rd.

The Embraer ERJ-170 was en-route from Cairo, Egypt, when upon entering Israeli Airspace, it lost communication due to a radio failure, prompting Israeli Authorities to intercept the plane.

The plane landed safely after gaining its frequency back.

All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

Israeli Warplanes Came Dangerously Close to Ryanair Passenger Plane

Two Israel Air Force F-16 fighter jets almost crashed into a Ryanair passenger plane near Ovda Airport, Israel, on March 1st.

The passenger plane was en-route from Krakow, Poland, to Ovda airport, Israel, when two fighter planes, engaged in the training exercises, came “dangerously close”. The Ryanair pilots changed the course at the last minute to avert the crash.

The flight FR-2616 was carrying 162 passengers at the time.

The airline confirmed the incident but said that “These military aircraft were at all times over 3 miles away from the Ryanair aircraft, so the reports of a ‘nearly crash’ or ‘evasive manoeuvres’ are all false and invented. All passengers on board the Ryanair aircraft noticed nothing, since our aircraft never diverted from its cleared flight path to Ovda.”

Royal Jordanian Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Israel

Royal Jordanian AirlinesRoyal Jordanian Airlines flight RJA611 had to make an emergency landing at Ben Gurion International airport in Israel, on November 3.

According to the airline, the Airbus A320 was en-route from Dubai to Amman, Jordan when it was diverted due to poor weather conditions.

The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

Authorities said the plane resumed its journey shortly afterwards after refueling.

Arkia Israel Airlines Flight Diverts to Ben Gurion Airport

Arkia Israel AirlinesArkia Israel Airlines flight IZ-826 diverted to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, for an emergency landing on September 27.

The ATR-72-212A plane, heading from Eilat to Sde Dov Airport, Tel Aviv, was diverted after the crew noticed a gear problem.

The plane landed safely.

None of the 72 people aboard were harmed.

Israir Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Ben Gurion International Airport

The ATR plane took off from Sde Dov airport in north Tel Aviv and was en-route to Eilat when one of its engines failed. The pilot reported the situation to ATC and requested at emergency landing.

The plane, carrying around 80 passengers, landed safely. No one was hurt.

A replacement aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

Bird-Hit Arkia Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Ben Gurion Airport

Arkia Israel AirlinesArkia Israel Airlines flight IZ-803 had to make an emergency landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Israel, on April 26.

The Embraer ERJ-195 jet was heading from Sde Dov Airport in Tel Aviv, to Eilat when the pilot reported a bird strike and sought permission for an emergency landing.

The plane landed safely around 10 minutes after it took off.

Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

El Al Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tel Aviv

EL ALEl Al flight 2521 had to return and make an emergency landing at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, on April 21.

Authorities said tire shreds were found on the runway after the plane took off for Prague, Czech Republic. The pilot was then informed about the situation and was asked to turn back.

The plane landed uneventfully and none of the 181 passengers and crew members was harmed.

The airline said in a statement, “El Al sees flight safety as an utmost priority and does not compromise on the matter.”

Small Plane Crashed in Central Israel; 2 Killed

SmokeAn ultralight plane crashed near an amusement park in Rishon Lezion, central Israel, on the morning of January 25.

The plane crashed and caught fire at the airstrip while the pilot was attempting an emergency landing.

The pilot and his only passenger were killed in the crash.

Authorities believe that dense fog might have caused the accident.

EL Al Flight Returns to Ben Gurion Airport due to Engine Failure

EL ALEl Al flight 29, en route from Tel Aviv, Israel to Ontario, Canada, returned to Ben Gurion Airport for emergency landing on the night of September 6.

The Boeing 767 was diverted after one of its engines failed.

The plane landed uneventfully and all 194 people aboard remained safe. The passengers were transferred to an alternate aircraft which took them to their destination.

“We consider flight safety as the highest value,” said an El Al representative. The airline also said that the incident will be investigated.

Arkia Flight makes Emergency Landing

On January 13, 2013, an Arkia Airlines ATR developed an engine problem forcing the pilot to shut down the affected engine and divert from Sde Dov to Ben-Gurion airport. The flight landed with emergency services on standby. None of the 67 aboard had any injuries.

There was no fire found in the turboprop engine, but Akia Airlines began an investigation, and seems to have discovered a faulty indicator.

Why: When smoke was reported as coming from the baggage compartment, the pilots returned to Ben-Gurion International Airport and made a safe landing.

45 ambulances and 17 mobile units were on the scene of the emergency landing.

The origin of the smoke turned out to be an oven in the aft galley.

Golden Wings Crash Kills Pilot and Three Students

Who: 4 fatalities
Why: On a training flight, the Piper developed unspecified engine problems, so that the pilot requested an emergency landing on the Air Force Technical School landing strip.

On return to the airport, the pilot attempted an emergency landing but brushed treetops on approach, and crashed. A flight instructor 65-year-old f David Bechor, and three students including Mustafa Amin Darawsheh and Moshe Bensel were killed in the crash.

Witnesses say the plane “dropped like a stone…a loud blast…explosion and black smoke”

When the rescue teams arrived, the plane was engulfed.

Israeli Pilots taking English Test

The Pilots Union capitulated and has ordered all Israeli airline pilots to take an English language exam.

THis is part of the International Civil Aviation Organization requirement for renewing an international pilot’s license.
All El Al Israel Airlines Ltd pilots will take the English exam by March 5.
