Arkia Israel Airlines flight IZ-803 had to make an emergency landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Israel, on April 26.
The Embraer ERJ-195 jet was heading from Sde Dov Airport in Tel Aviv, to Eilat when the pilot reported a bird strike and sought permission for an emergency landing.
The plane landed safely around 10 minutes after it took off.
Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
Thai Airways flight TG-473 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Denpasar, Indonesia, on October 10th.
The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Bangkok, Thailand, to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after the crew received indication of oil leakage from the right hand engine.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 264 people aboard remained safe.
Air Baltic flight BT-629 had to return for an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on September 25th.
The plane took off for Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Nordic Regional Airlines flight AY-499 had to make an emergency landing in Helsinki, Finland, on January 3rd.
The plane took off for Joensuu, Finland, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.
The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
Air Cairo flight SM-451 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on August 1.
The Airbus A320-200 plane en-route from Alexandria, Egypt, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was diverted after the crew noticed a leak in one of the main cabin doors.
The plane landed uneventfully. There were 111 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

What: TRIP Linhas Aereas Aerospatiale ATR-72-500 en route from Curitiba to Cascavel Brazil
Where: Cascavel
When: Jan 10th 2010
Who: 70 on board
Why: Near Cascavel the left engine caught fire. The engine was shut down and the fire suppression system activated and put it out. However, Cascavel was closed due to low visibility, and the flight diverted to Iguassu Falls. Cascavel travelers were bussed from Iguassu Falls.
Dourados and Campo Grande passengers were provided connecting flights.

What: American Airlines Boeing 757 en route from San Diego to Dallas
Where: Los Angeles International Airport
When: Friday August 21
Who: 188 passengers and 6 crew
Why: While en route to Dallas, passengers observed pieces of the right wing falling off. The crew declared an emergency and landed at LAX. Maintenance crews discovered that “delamination of a seal.”
Passengers were able to board another plane bound to arrive at their destination on midnight Friday.
