    American Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

    American AirlinesAn American Airlines jet 767 made an emergency landing at Tulsa American Airlines Base in Oklahoma, on June 10.

    The Boeing 767 was at the airbase for routine service. The pilot took a test flight but immediately declared emergency, returned to the base, and landed safely.

    According to airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins, the decision for emergency landing was made after the pilot reported a flight control problem.

    Only four crew and technical staff members were aboard the jet at the time of emergency landing; all of them exited safely.

    American Airlines Flight Diverts to Canada due to Cracked Windshield

    American Airlines flight AA-207 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on October 28th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, to Miami, Florida, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All three hundred and seven people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: UTAir/Tulpar Airlines Yakovlev Yak-42 en route from Moscow Vnukovo to Volgograd with 57 passengers and 7 crew
    When: Dec 10th 2011
    Who: 57 passengers and 7 crew
    Why: While en route, the Yak developed engine problems in the left engine.

    The crew shut down the engine (idled) and made a safe landing in Volgograd.

    Passenger Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Ukraine

    A passenger plane had to make an emergency landing at Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine, on July 11th.

    The plane heading from Kiev, Ukraine, to Antalya, Turkey, was diverted due to a bird strike.

    There were one hundred and seventy-four passengers and six crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The flight was being operated by tour company JoinUp.

    What: FedEx Cessna 209 B en route from Syracuse to Plattsburg
    Where: field off Elmer Hill Road, adjacent to the intersections of Elmerhill and Chmelewski roads, Oneida County, NY
    When: Dec 03, 2009 7:45 a.m.
    Who: pilot
    Why: After his engine exploded in mid-air, the pilot–with 8,000 flight hours in this type plane–aimed to land at Griffiss International Airport. While losing altitude, he pulled the plane (with its smoking engine) up, missing several homes and then dropping to land in an open field beside the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department, not far from the airport.

    A contractor, Wiggins Airways, out of Manchester, New Hampshire operated the plane.

    Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chennai

    Air India flight AI-440 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chennai, India, on June 20th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Delhi, India, but had to turn back due to a suspected bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and thirty people aboard remained safe.
