    Bird Strikes Pilot in the Face


    What: Northern Colorado Med-Evac Bell 407 Helicopter en route from Greeley to a hospital south of Denver
    Where: two miles from Swedish Medical Center (landed at Centennial Airport)
    When: 1:10 a.m. Sunday May 17
    Who: The 4 people aboard were uninjured.
    Why: The helicopter made an emergency landing after a bird strike left a small hole in the front windshield. The bird actually struck the pilot in the face and ended up on the floor of the helicopter.

    The pilot and passengers were not injured. No word on the bird’s condition.

    The helicopter was repaired and is back in service. The neurology patient was driven the rest of the way to the hospital.

    LATAM Chile Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Argentina

    LATAM Chile flight LA-487 had to make an emergency landing in Cordoba, Argentina, on November 12th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Santiago, Chile, but had to turn back after a hail strike caused the windshields to crack.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Small Planet Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in France

    Small Planet Airlines flight 5P-5963 made an emergency landing in Bergerac, France, on May 26th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Paderborn, Germany, to Fuerteventura, Spain, was diverted due to an air conditioning system problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Smoke Prompts Emergency Evacuation of IndiGo Passengers; 28 Injured

    IndiGo AirlinesTwenty-Eight passengers were injured after a landing gear problem in IndiGo flight 6E-176 from Mumbai caused thick smoke emission on landing in New Delhi, India, and prompted an emergency evacuation on August 20.

    Air Traffic Control (ATC) observed “dense smoke” coming out of the left-side lower portion of the Airbus A-320 after it landed at IGI Airport at about 3:30 p.m.then alerted the pilots and emergency services at the airport. All 154 people aboard the plane were evacuated using emergency slide-chutes.

    Twenty-eight of 148 passengers suffered minor injuries during the slide evacuation, while the 6 crew members escaped unhurt.

    Aviation regulator DGCA and the airline have initiated investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed that a heavy friction on the left brake assembly of the landing gear caused the smoke.

    China Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Guam

    China AirlinesChina Airlines flight CI-25 had to make an emergency landing in Guam, on April 17th.

    The Boeing 737-800 took off for Taipei, Taiwan, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All 109 passengers and 13 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    Qantas flight QF-2 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on February 7th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Singapore but had to turn back due to a cargo door indication.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
