    Southwest Airlines Plane Diverts to Jackson after Loss of Cabin Pressure

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight WN-214 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 6th.

    The plane flying from Atlanta, Georgia, to Houston, Texas, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane, carrying 118 passengers and 5 crew members, landed safely.

    The airline said a flight attendant was taken to hospital after landing.

    Why: While en route, the plane crashed. Both individuals aboard suffered injuries.

    Oakland Park Plane Crashes House


    What: twin-engine Cessna 421 owned by Sebring Air Charter in Tamarac en route from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport
    Where: Oakland Park
    When: 11:20 a.m
    Who: pilot Cecil A. Murray, 80 of Tarmac en route to Fernandina Beach, just outside Jacksonville
    Why: The pilot’s plans to fly to Ferdandina Beach to sell the plane were disrupted when he reported problems as soon as he took off. Murray reported to air traffic control that he was going to turn around and was cleared to do so, but then neighbors in this Oakland Park neighborhood heard the plane “spitting and sputtering.” The plane crashed in the middle of a house which was a total loss. The pilot did not survive.

    Lost Flight Found Wrecked South of Greensburg


    What: Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage en route from Destin to Greensburg
    Where: 1-1/2 miles south of the Greensburg Airport, Indiana
    When: Dec 2, 2012
    Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities
    Why: A plane registered to Donald P. Horan of Greensburg was found wrecked south of the airport on Sunday. There were four fatalities associated with the wreckage. The crash was reported by locals who heard the impact at 6:19 p.m on Dec 2.

    At 6:30, the pilot of the plane was communicating with flight controllers at the Indianapolis International Airport when they lost contact. The FAA called Greensburg.

    Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department and Decatur County Sheriff’s Department were searching the area. Fog prevented the deployment of a helicopter or an air search but six teams of ground crews made up of six to eight people searched a grid south of the airport on ATVs. The plane was located after 10:30 at night.

    Korean Air Plane Returns to Chicago due to Landing Gear Issue

    Korean Air flight KE-271 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on October 10th.

    The Boeing 747-800 freighter plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Qantas Flight Returns to Los Angeles due to Failure of Weather Radar

    Qantas flight QF-16 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on December 27th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Brisbane, Australia, but had to turn back due to failure of a weather radar.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
