    Blue Air Flight Returns to Bucharest After Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Blue Air flight 0B-105 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bucharest, Romania, on December 29th.

    The plane took off for Paris Beauvais Tille Airport, France, but had to turn back after it lost cabin pressure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    2 Lost in Piper Crash in Ely

    What: Piper PA-31T1 Cheyenne en route from Mesa, Arizona to Portland-Troutdale Airport,Oregon
    Where: Ely, NV
    When: Dec 15, 2012
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: Two people aboard a Piper Cheyenne crashed in Ely Nevada when the pilot apparently lost control.

    The FAA and NTSB are investigating.

    Helicopter Crashes into Pearl Harbor; 1 Critically Injured

    A Bell 206 helicopter crashed and sunk near the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 18.

    The private helicopter went down while it was carrying five people, including the pilot and a family of four visiting from Canada.

    All five occupants of the aircraft survived the crash. However, one of them – a 16-year-old boy- was trapped underwater and had to be extricated from his seat. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

    Authorities believe the helicopter belongs to tour operator Genesis Aviation.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the cause of crash.

    Emergency Landing in Lagos

    What: Aero Contractors flight en route from Lagos to Abuja
    Where: Lagos Nigeria
    When: Oct 16, 2012 8 pm
    Who: not released
    Why: After take-off, one of the engines quit.

    The pilot was in the air less than twelve minutes, and returned to Lagos to make a asafe landing at the airport. The problem was corrected as not an engine failure but an apu failure.

    Repairs were made to the plane which is now apparently operational.

    Emergency Landing in Waterloo

    What: Private Cessna en route from Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre
    Where: Region of Waterloo International Airport
    When: Dec 13, 2012
    Who: flight instructor, pilot
    Why: Pilots made an emergency landing in Waterloo with emergency services on standby.

    The flight was en route when smoke developed in the cockpit.

    THe smoke is being blamed on a leaky oil seal dripping oil on to the muffler.

    The plane landed with emergency services on standby but taxied on its own steam to the hanger.

    No injuries were reported.

    On taxi, wings of Nigerian Airforce C-130 and Arik Airlines Collide, No injury

    What: Nigerian Airforce C-130
    Where: Jos, Nigeria
    When: July 14, 2012
    Who: no injuries
    Why: The jet was about to take off when “An Arik Airline Boeing 737-700 with registration No 5NMJI on a routine flight to Lagos brushed the wing of a parked Nigerian Air Force C-130 (NAF 917) at the Yakubu Gowon Airport.”

    The tank 1 wing tip of the NAF C-130 was damaged. The wing of the Arik aircraft was dismembered.

    The announcement was made by Wing Commander A. Makun, Deputy Director, Directorate of Airforce information.

    The Air Force Jet was about to fly Airforce Military School and Airforce Girls Military School both in the Plateau State capital from Jos to Lagos. The flight was canceled.
