Kuwait Airways flight KU-619 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on December 28th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back due to a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Nok Air flight DD7805 had to make an emergency landing at Surat Thani airport in Thailand, on August 30.
The plane took off from Nakhon Si Thammarat and was heading to Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport when a large bird hit it, prompting the pilot to request an emergency landing.
The plane landed safely. All 200 passengers and crew members remained unhurt.
Royal Air Maroc flight AT-208 made an emergency landing in Montreal, Canada, on October 6th.
The Boeing 767-300 plane flying from Casablanca, Morocco, was descending toward Montreal when the crew reported an engine failure.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: South African Express Canadair CRJ-200 en route from East London to Johannesburg

Why: While en route, the plane experienced engine trouble. The pilot shut down the engine and returned to East London where it made a safe landing.

What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200, en route from Paris to Rio de Janeiro

Why: On takeoff, the plane developed a problem. The right engine was shut down. After suffering what sounded like a backfire to passengers, the captain announced they would be returning.
The flight crew then dumped fuel (apparently in the English Channel) and returned to the airport. Passengers were provided accommodations and were rescheduled.
A Hawaiian Airlines flight had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kahului, Hawaii, on March 27th.
The plane heading from Oakland, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the cabin.
The plane landed safely. All 241 passengers and 10 crew members aboard remained unharmed.
