    PSA Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in North Carolina after Smoke in Cockpit

    PSA AirlinesPSA Airlines flight AA-5490 made a safe emergency landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, North Carolina, on August 12.

    The Canadair CRJ-900 was flying from Louisville, Kentucky, when the crew noticed smoke in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 64 people aboard remained safe.

    British Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Landing Gear Issue

    British Airways flight BA-65 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on November 29th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Nairobi, Kenya, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air Tahiti Emergency Landing

    Jam 14, 2013, at 20:18:00, an Air Tahiti ATR with 53 passengers aboard was en route from Papeete to Ralatea when an engine caught fire.

    The pilot shut down the affected engine and made a safe landing in Papeete. Emergency services were on standby and put out the fire.

    Tulsa Crash Kills Two

    What: A twin-engine Cessna 320 owned by Hazelwood taking off from private Airman Acres airport
    Where: rural agricultural area near Owasso north of Tulsa in a field near East 116th Street North and Sheridan Road, about a mile from the rural airstrip where it took off
    When: noon Sunday
    Who: Oklahoma Highway Patrol Captain-Larry Jackson, 49 and Harvey Hazelwood, was dock inspector for American Airlines in Tulsa. Both were killed in the crash
    Why: The cause of the crash has not been determined. The first evidence points to engine failure.

    WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2011 — The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, issued a statement commending the strong leadership of Chairman John Mica and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) for releasing a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill (H.R. 658) that recognizes the airlines’ critical role in the economy and takes measures to enhance the global competitiveness of U.S. airlines.

    “ATA applauds Chairman Mica and the House T&I Committee for crafting a bill that recognizes the critically important role that airlines play in driving the economy and job growth and takes measures to promote global competitiveness of the U.S. airlines while not further harming an industry and its customers already overburdened with taxes,” said ATA President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. “We urge Congress to pass this bill and to invest in a NextGen air traffic management system that will improve the industry’s safety and efficiency, grow jobs and enable U.S. airlines to keep pace with global competitors.”

    JetBlue Flight Returns to Salt Lake City After Bird Strike

    JetBlue flight B6-531 had to return and make an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Long Beach, California, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
