The flight continued on schedule and landed safely on a tire without tread.

What: Air India’s Airbus 320 Flight IC 206 en route from Dibrugarh via Jorhat to Kolkata
and an Indian Air Force transport IAF Gajaraj IL 76 en route to Dibrugarh at 19,000 feet flflying at a speed of 600 km per hour. Where: over Jorhat in Upper Assam, around 300 km from Guwahati When: Tuesday Who: 43 passengers in the Airbus. The number aboard the Air Force plane was not disclosed. Why: Pilot Joydeb Banerjee saw the air force plane about 300 feet away –Banerjee and co- pilot Neeraj Singha of IC 206 alerted the ATCs at Jorhat and Dibrugarh. The Airbus dived 2,000 feet just in time to save the lives of his 43 passengers. His airbus had taken off from Dibrugarh at 11.55 am.
An Airports Authority of India ATC officer stationed in the Mohanbari airport in Upper Assam was suspended for “apparent lack of co- ordination with the authorities in Jorhat”.

What: UTAir Aviation Aérospatiale AS 350 B3 Ecureuil en route from Lensk to Talakan Where: Lensk, Russia When: July 4, 2012 18:11 Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities Why: Four people were aboard the UTAir helicopter when it crashed near Lensk Russia, killing the pilot and copilot and two passengers just moments after the pilots lost contact with ATC.
Initial reports said there were only three aboard. The helicopter normally performed a regular shuttle flight.

In an announcement hauntingly similar to the initial release of 7 survivors (who were later confirmed as 22 dead), the cockpit voice recorder was reportedly found…but later reported to be missing the memory unit.
Ethiopia Airlines release is below and denies recovery of the CVR. ET Flight 409 Accident Update 9 – 10 February, 2010
Ethiopian Airlines would like to express its position on the latest speculative reports released on the cause of the accident on ET-409, 25 January.
As a member of the investigation team, Ethiopian Airlines strictly adheres to the ICAO annex 13 regulation, in which it is mandated to refrain from any inconclusive comments on the process of investigation.
The investigation is still in its early stage and the CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) and the aircraft wreckage are not yet retrieved for analysis, it is therefore, too early to conclude the cause of the accident. Ethiopian Airlines does not rule out all possible causes including the possibility of sabotage until the final outcome of the investigation is known.
Ethiopian Airlines would continue to cooperate with the investigation team to complete the process in accordance with the ICAO regulation and reveal the truth.

What: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Beirut to Addis Ababa Where: 2 miles west of the coastal village of Na’ameh. When: Jan 25 2010 Who: 7 crew 83 passengers Why: Shortly after taking off in stormy weather and heavy lightning, Lebanese ATC lost contact. The plane disappeared from radar 45 minutes after leaving Beirut. Witnesses on the coast saw the plane as it crashed into the sea. So far 9 bodies have been found by members of the Lebanese army

What: Kyrgyzstan/Altyn Air Tupolev 134A-3 en route from Bishkek to Osh Where: Osh Airport, Kyrgyzstan When: 28 DEC 2011 Who: 6 crew, 82 passengers, 25 injured Why: After a hard landing in dense fog, the plane skidded off the runway, collapsing the right main gear, and flipped. As it rolled over, the right wing separated, and the ensuing fire was quickly contained by rescue services standing by. Passengers inside were hanging upside down, suspended by their seatbelts, but had to find a way to evacuate quickly, before the plane had a chance to explode. A fire occurred from a fuel leak in the remaining wing, but it was controlled.

Six crew members and nineteen passengers were hospitalized, but there were no fatalities reported. Nine children were aboard. The plane was evacuated.
Because of the incident, the airport (runway) was temporarily closed, and Osh-Bishkek flights are delayed.
Of the 25 reported injured and hospitalized, these have been identified: Rustamov A. b. 1977, Ismatova A. b. 1993, Turgunaliev Charles b.1960; and two injured, Mamatov A., born 1992, and Suyunbaeva A. 2011g.r. who are in a children’s hospital in Osh. The most seriously injured is a 19 year old girl.
Kyrgyzstan Airlines is on the EU banned list.

What: Malaysia Airlines Boeing 747-400 en route from Kuala Lumpur to London Where: Kuala Lumpur When: Apr 17th 2012 Who: 351 passengers, 21 crew Why: After taking off from Kuala Lumpur, the engine exploded.
Or at least that’s what passengers felt when they heard a backfire or some other kind of explosion from one engine, and saw sparks and flames.
Pilots dumped fuel and returned to Kuala Lumpur where they made a safe landing.
A replacement jet was provided.
