    Dassault Mirage Crash in France

    Who: pilot
    Why: A Mirage 2000-5 fighter crashed in Froideconche killing the Taiwanese pilot.

    The pilot, who was on a training mission, crashed northeast of the town of Luxeuil Froideconche in a wooded area.

    The accident is under investigation.

    Where: Sao Paulo
    When: May 25 2009
    Who: 154 passengers
    Why: On approach to Sao Paulo, the flight experienced turbulence. Fasten seat belt signs were illuminated about 20 minutes before landing–Some passengers struck the ceiling.

    Thirteen were treated at the airport; eight were taken to the hospital. No mention is made of any injuries to crew members

    What: Boliviana de Aviacion Boeing 737-300 en route from from Sucre to La Paz
    Where: La Paz
    When: Jun 11th 2010
    Who: 46 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: On landing, a bracket failed, a hydraulic line on the right hand main gear was cut. This resulted in all the hydraulic fluid releasing, and the brakes failing. The crew used reverse thrust and managed to stop the plane.

    Small Plane Crashed in Texas; Fatalities Feared

    A small plane crashed between Granger and Taylor in Texas, on April 9th.

    Authorities said the eight-seater twin-engine turboprop went down near FM 1331. The plane had taken off from Georgetown airport.

    According to Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson, “There are going to be fatalities…We just can’t confirm or deny how many are in there until we get it under control down there.”

    Why: The crew rejected takeoff because of the smell of smoke possibly attributed to de-icing fluid.

    Turbulence over Albany

    What: Continental Airlines/Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Cleveland to Albany,NY
    Where: Albany
    When: May 8th 2010
    Who: 6 injured, 2 taken to hospital.
    Why: On approach to Albany, the plane encountered severe turbulence, slamming a flight attendant and passenger from the ceiling to the floor. With Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Department and Town of Colonie Emergency Services on standby, the flight made a normal landing at the Albany airport, where 4 injured were taken care of at the airport and the two most severe cases—a male passenger and female flight attendant— were transported to the hospital.
