On Feb 24, 2013, a Volcanic Air Safaris Ltd Robinson R44 Raven II made an emergency upright landing on skids near the end of Bennetts Rd, Koutu, not long after lifting off from Lake Rotorua New Zealand.
The female pilot and three passengers escaped the helicopter 60 metres from the shore in knee deep water. A boat went to the helicopter’s aide about 10.10.
The passengers were a man and his two children. There were no injuries.
The chopper had suffered mechanical problems.

Why: Scott Pigsley was returning from searching for a woman when his plane struck geese. At the time, he knew something had happened, but wasn’t sure what it was until after he landed and saw the damage to the single engine Cessna he was flying. The goose or geese left dents on the wings, a broken wheel cover and blood on the Cessna, but the problems Pigsley had encountered involved the engine.

UTair flight UT369 had to make an emergency landing at Pulkovo International Airport in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on March 25.

Air India flight AI 130 had to make an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan, on January 24.
The Boeing Dreamliner aircraft was en-route from London, United Kingdom, to Mumbai, India, when a passenger suffered a medical emergency, prompting the pilot to sought permission for diversion.
Authorities said the 72-year-old passenger, a British citizen, died before the plane landed in Azerbaijan.
A Swiss International Airlines Airbus en route from Zurich to Helsinki developed a brake problem, and return to Zurich.
The plane made a safe landing. No further notification has been made public regarding the condition of the brakes, but the plane was taken from rotation for maintenance and inspection.
Passengers were booked an alternative flights.
