    What: Frontier Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from Denver,CO to Phoenix,AZ
    Where: Denver
    When: Aug 29th 2010
    Who: 62 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane got an alert that the left engine was low on oil. The pilots shut down the engine and returned to Denver where they made a safe landing.

    Maintenance handled the problem, and the flight took off again an hour late.

    What: TAF Linhas Aereas Boeing 727-20 en route from Sao Paulo to Manaus Brazil
    Where: Parintins
    When: Dec 17th 2009
    Who: crew
    Why: After several attempts at landing in stormy, rainy windy conditions at the Manaus airport (including flying through tree branches and damaging the leading edge of the right wing, the flight diverted 200 miles east to Parintins where it made a safe landing.

    Blue Air Flight Returns to Liverpool John Lennon Airport due to Suspected Bird Strike

    blue airBlue Air flight 0B134 had to return and make an emergency landing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in England, on August 17.

    The Boeing 737, that took off for Bucharest, Romania, had to return after the pilot reported a suspected bird-hit just 20 minutes into the flight.

    The plane landed safely and burning off excess fuel. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    After inspection, the plane was cleared to take off again.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in San Francisco

    United Airlines flight UA-35 had to make an emergency landing in San Francisco, California, on February 7th.

    The plane was heading from San Francisco to Osaka, Japan, when the crew reported a windshield problem and requested to return for an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Air China Security Diversion

    What: Air China Boeing en route from Beijing to NY
    Where: Beijing
    When: August 29, 2012
    Why: Passengers aboard an Air China Flight were flown back to Beijing and told there was a “map display error or due to turbulence.” On landing, the captain told passengers there had been a threatening message. Passengers disembarked through security and were provided an alternative flight.

    Air China posted the following message:

    Due to threatening information received about flight CA 981, to ensure the safety of passengers, this flight has returned to Beijing Capital International Airport.

    Cessna Emergency Landing in Swamp


    What: Cessna 172
    Where: emergency landing NE of Dumbarton Bridge one mile north of the Palo Alto Airport
    When: Friday night
    Who: pilot aboard.
    Why: The pilot reported that the plain was losing oil pressure. On landing, the plane flipped in a marshy area. The Coast Guard responded to the emergency call. The (approx) 25 gallons of fuel aboard neither caused a fire nor contaminated the area. The pilot was uninjured
