    Lufthansa Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Munich

    LufthansaLufthansa flight LH-1679 had to make an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on October 11.

    The Airbus A320-200 was descending towards Munich when the crew declared emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. The plane was flying from Budapest, Hungary, at the time.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    Authorities said the smoke had dissipated before landing.

    Cessna Crashes by New Hampshire Runway

    Where: WEST LEBANON, N.H.
    When: Feb 9, 2012, 3:45 p.m
    Who: pilot, 1 fatality
    Why: The Cessna T182T Turbo Skylane took off from Lebanon New Hampshire Municipal airport returning the plane from repairs  but developed problems. The pilot, Paul Schlieben, of Peterborough, N.H requested a turnback to the airport.

    He was returning to the airport when he crashed in the airport safety area impacting beside a runway. West Lebanon firefighters responded to the scene and put out the flames. The pilot did not survive the impact.

    Three Survive Helicopter Ditched in AZ Lake

    What: Sky Blue Helicopters Robinson R44 Helicopter
    Where: Theodore Roosevelt Lake in Gila County
    When: Dec 7 2012
    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: Two men and one woman were aboard a helicopter on a sightseeing tour when it crashed in Theodore Roosevelt Lake in Gila County. The water where the helicopter crashed was 60 feet deep. Boaters pulled the passengers from the water.

    The two men and one woman were hospitalized in Phoenix. Julie Barba, 49, remains in the hospital, but Fred Cleeves, the 62-year-old pilot, and George Riedel, 64, were released from Scottsdale Healthcare Osborne Medical Center.

    Gila County Sheriff’s Office Divers attached a buoy to the helicopter to mark its location before removal.

    American Airlines Emergency Landing

    Why: When indicators reported an engine fire after takeoff from Austin, the plane received clearance and landed 10 minutes after takeoff. No actual fire was found.

    Where: Long Beach Municipal Airport
    When: Aug 5th 2011
    Who: 147 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: On approach to Long Beach, the crew saw a hydraulics/ brake problem and aborted their first approach; instead of landing they burned off fuel, then made a safe landing (with an undescended wheel).

    Nepal Airlines Corporation Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kathmandu

    The plane was flying from New Delhi, India, when the crew reported smoke in cockpit and declared an emergency.
