    Who: Sarah Steves, an aviation student at Daniel Webster College in Nashua NH
    Why: On her first solo cross-country night flight, the pilot experienced power in the plane’s lights and radio. She managed to make an emergency call. Rick Bendel, manager of Monadnock Aviation notified emergency dispatchers who notified Keene and Swanzey fire official with an emergency action plan in place for airport emergencies.

    Steves had a hard landing on all 3 wheels w/o lights and taxied to the terminal without further incident.

    Small Plane Crashes in Florida due to Mechanical Issue

    A small plane crashed into a marshy area near Orlando Apopka Airport, Orange County, Florida, on the night of December 30th.

    The Cessna 400 had to abort its landing after spotting a deer on the runway. The plane faced mechanical issue after turning around.

    The plane sustained significant damage.

    The 61-year old pilot was taken to a nearby hospital for first aid.

    SkyWest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Grand Island, NE

    SkyWest Airlines flight OO-5215 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Grand Island, Nebraska, on April 18th.

    The plane heading from Omaha, Nebraska, to San Francisco, California, was diverted after the crew received an indication of an open door.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Spirit Airlines Flight Diverts to Buffalo Niagara International Airport

    spiritSpirit Airlines flight NK-647 made an emergency landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, New York, on September 26th.

    The plane heading from Niagara Falls, New York, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was diverted after the crew had to shut down one of the engines due to a fire indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 136 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    American Airlines Emergency Landing in NY

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Miami to New York
    Where: New York
    When: Feb 17th 2012
    Why: On approach to New York, the plane developed problems with the left engine and pilots shut down the engine.

    They made a safe landing with emergency services on stand-by.

    US Airways Flaps Cause Emergency Diversion

    Why: The 50 person commuter jet had to make an emergency diversion to MacArthur Airport when the flight developed a flap problem.
