    Detroit-Bound Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Tampa Airport

    250px-Delta_logo.svg Delta Flight 1703 had to make an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport in Florida, on May 4.

    According to the airline, the Boeing 737 was en-route from Tampa to Detroit when a “performance issue” in one of its two engines forced the pilot to turn around.

    The plane landed uneventfully all 177 passengers aboard remained safe.

    The airline provided a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    JetBlue flight B6-324 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on January 31st.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back due to a lightning strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and fifty-three passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    What: SpiceJet Boeing 737 en route from Coimbatore to Chennai
    Where: Chennai
    When: Dec 20, 2009, 11.25am
    Who: 121 passengers
    Why: While en route (near final approach), one engine developed problems, overheated and was shut down. The flight was declared an emergency and landed safely at its destination. Apparently a generator failed, and that lead to the engine overheating, but hydraulics were not affected.

    An article attributes the emergency to landing gear not operating. However, this may be referring to a separate incident, as the date and time and vehicle registration on both events is not clear. (yet)

    Emirates Plane Diverts to Mumbai due to Smoke in Cockpit

    EmiratesEmirates flight EK-652 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on July 26th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane en-route from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Male, Maldives, had to be diverted after smoke was noticed in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All 309 people aboard remained uninjured.

    Cessna Makes Emergency Landing on Key Biscayne Golf Course

    A Cessna 150 aircraft made an emergency landing on a golf course in Key Biscayne, Florida, on October 26.

    The plane was en-route from Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport to Miami Executive Airport when the pilot noticed an engine problem and decided to make an emergency landing at Crandon Golf course.

    The plane struck some palm trees while landing and sustained damage to one of its wings.

    The pilot and his only passenger remained uninjured.

    The aircraft is owned by a company in Wilmington, Delaware.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    British Airways flight BA-864 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on July 23rd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Warsaw, Poland, but had to turn back due to an unidentified odor onboard.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
