    Bird-Hit Royal Air Force Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing at Cardiff Airport

    RAFA Royal Air Force helicopter had to make an emergency landing at Cardiff Airport in the Vale of Glamorgan, United Kingdom, on the morning of February 4.

    According to a Ministry of Defence spokesperson, “Two RAF aircraft were training in Pembrey when one aircraft thought it had been struck by a bird…As a precaution the aircraft asked to land at the nearest airport which was Cardiff…There was no damaged discovered and both aircraft returned to the RAF Valley base in Anglesea.”

    Airport authorities confirmed that Hawk T1 made an uneventful emergency landing and no one aboard was harmed.

    Royal Jordanian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Doha

    Royal Jordanian Airlines flight RJ-611 had to divert for an emergency landing in Doha, Qatar, on May 18th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Amman, Jordan, was diverted after the crew found an unidentified object on-board.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Upon checking, the security forces did not find any hazardous material.

    UPS Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Germany

    UPS flight 5X-275 made an emergency landing in Cologne, Germany, on July 24th.

    The Boeing 767-200 freighter plane flying from Vienna, Austria, was on approach to Cologne when the crew received an unsafe gear indication.

    The crew went around to work the related checklists and subsequently landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Another Emergency Landing at LAX

    What: American Airlines Flight 1586 Boeing 737 en route from Los Angeles to Toronto at 11 a.m.
    Where: LAX
    When: Tuesday Aug 2 2008-12:51 p.m
    Who: 130 passengers and five crew
    Why: On takeoff, the pilot noticed a a blown tire and immediately requested to return. To burn off fuel, he had to circle the airport until his (safe) 12: 51 landing on the shredded tire.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands at Tupelo Regional Airport

    A single-engine Cessna made a soft crash-landing at Tupelo Regional Airport in Tupelo, Mississippi, shortly before 6:30 p.m. on February 3.

    The plane was returning from Starkville to Tupelo when it developed some landing gear issues.

    According to Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker, the aircraft’s back landing gear deployed normally but front gear did not come down. It kept skidding on its nose for about 30 yards before coming to halt in the middle of runway.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unharmed.

    The accident is being investigated.

    2 Killed as Small Plane Crashes Near Idaho-Wyoming Border

    A small plane crashed in eastern Idaho near the Wyoming border, on January 4th.

    Authorities said the vintage Yak 52 Russian trainer aircraft went down about 2 miles north of the Alpine Airport, Wyoming.

    There were two people aboard, including Reade Genzlinger, 61, of Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, and MacKenzie Ruston, 17, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Both of them were killed in the crash.

    The FAA is investigating.
