    Dana Air Preliminary Report

    What: Dana Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83 en route from Abuja to Lagos, Nigeria
    Where: Iju neighborhood, Lagos
    When: June 3, 2012
    Who: 153 passengers
    Why: According to the Dana Crash Preliminary report, the captain and the first officer were in a discussion of a non-normal condition regarding the correlation between the engine throttle setting and an engine power indication. They did not voice concerns then that the condition would affect the continuation of the flight.

    The report included records of visual examination of the aircraft wreckage, review maintenance records and other historical information of the aircraft, documentation of the training and experience of the flight crew, determination of the chronology of the flight, review of recorded data, reconstructing the aircraft refueling, and collection of related fuel samples and interview of related personnel.

    Horizon Air Plane makes Safe Landing in California after Deer Strike

    Horizon AirHorizon Air flight QX-475 made a safe landing at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, Santa Rosa, California, on December 2.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-400, en-route from Seattle, Washington, to Santa Rosa, was approaching the runway when it collided with a deer.

    The plane landed safely.

    All passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    American Airlines Flight Diverts to St. Louis

    American Airlines flight 1691 was en route from Newark to Dallas Texas and diverted to Lambert Airport in St. Louis when passengers aboard the flight were concerned about a passenger’s use of an electronic device.

    The person in question was taken into police custody.

    The flight continued to Dallas.

    The person who was the security risk was taken off the plane in police custody but released after the interview, and provided a hotel room. The passenger will be provided another flight.

    Hollandscheveld Crash Injures 3


    What: Piaggio P-149D
    Where: Hollandscheveld, Netherlands
    When: August 4, 2012
    Who: 2 aboard, 1 on the ground, 3 injuries
    Why: The plane took off at 11.30 from the nearby airport in Hoogeveen. After engine problems developed, the pilot reported via radio that he had an engine failure. He made a forced landing and struck an outbuilding and came to rest in a residential garden.

    Both occupants of the plane and one person in the shed were injured.

    Small Plane Crashes in Idaho; 3 Dead

    A small plane crashed in Owyhee County, Idaho, on September 30th.

    The wreckage was found in the Owyhee Mountains between Reynolds Creek and Silver City.

    Three people and a dog were killed in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    American Airlines Flight Made Safe Emergency Landing in El Paso

    American AirlinesThe American Airlines flight 1551 made a safe emergency landing at the El Paso International Airport, Texas, at about 2:42 p.m. on June 14.

    All 145 people aboard the plane remained unharmed.

    The plane, a McDonnell Douglas MD-82, was originally heading towards the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport from Los Cabo International Airport in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

    American Airlines spokesperson, Casey Norton, said that the decision for diversion and emergency landing was made after the pilot reported a maintenance indicator light.

    Liz Bellegarde, spokeswoman for the El Paso International Airport said the flight had to be diverted to El Paso because an engine of the plane had gone out.
