A small private plane crashed into a house in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on December 8.
Authorities said the plane took off from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and was scheduled to land at the nearby Montgomery County Airpark when it crashed. One of the aircraft’s wings, having fuel inside, caught fire after catapulting into the house.
Three residents of the house, including 36-year-old of Marie Gemmell, her infant baby boy and a 3-year-old son, were killed in the crash. Their bodies were found in the bathroom at second floor. The other 2 residents, including Gemmell’s husband Ken Gemmell and their 5-year-old daughter, were not home at the time of crash.
All 3 occupants of the plane were are also killed. They were identified as Dr. Michael Rosenberg, 66, David Hartman, 52 and Chijioke Ogbuka, 31. All of them hailed from Raleigh, North Carolina.
The crash also caused damage to 2 other houses.
The NTSB is investigating.
