A small plane crashed into a home near Half Moon Bay Airport in Moss Beach, California, on November 18th.
The single engine Cessna 172 plane, carrying two people, took off from Sacramento and was heading to the Bay Area when it went down.
The passenger was killed in the crash while the pilot sustained serious injuries.
The accident is being investigated.

Why: Around 2 local time, the Mi-8 was engaged in a rescue mission in conditions of bad weather and low visibility (28 have been killed in local floods); the tower lost contact with helicopter, though its partner helicopter continued on safely. Bad weather and low visibility severely hampered the search, but a day later, the wreckage was been located near Urdzhar to the northwest, with no survivors.
Two local officials and two doctors were among the deceased.

Who: pilot Cecil A. Murray, 80 of Tarmac en route to Fernandina Beach, just outside Jacksonville
Why: The pilot’s plans to fly to Ferdandina Beach to sell the plane were disrupted when he reported problems as soon as he took off. Murray reported to air traffic control that he was going to turn around and was cleared to do so, but then neighbors in this Oakland Park neighborhood heard the plane “spitting and sputtering.” The plane crashed in the middle of a house which was a total loss. The pilot did not survive.

Why: After the Cirrus engine failed, a father and daughter from Birmingham Alabama on a humanitarian mission deployed the plane’s parachute and ended up in a raft in the sea after their airplane crashed two miles off the coast of the Bahamas.
After their distress call to ATC Miami Center of Aircraft Emergency at around 12: 15 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard sent a HC-144 Ocean Sentry on reconnaissance and located their raft. Richard McGlaughlin, 59, and Elaine McGlaughlin, 25 were retrieved from their inflatable onto a Jayhawk chopper.
Tatarstan Airlines operator of the Boeing 737-500 that crashed in November in Kazan only flies seven planes. (Maybe 6, now?) The one that crashed was leased from a Bulgarian company, with a history of minor accidents.
Fifty people died on the Tatarstan Airlines jet that dived nose-down to a fiery grave in Kazan. The investigation says that even though the two pilots were on their second go-around (i.e. second attempt to land), everything was working until impact. Recovering from the botched landing attempt, they pulled up at a too steep angle. From a height of 700 m the airplane entered a nose down attitude, reaching a -75° pitch. They died trying to dive to recover momentum, and impacted at 450 km/h.
Human error? Sleep deprivation? The crash embodies what is wrong with Russian Airlines.
Russia has withdrawn the operating license for Tatarstan Airlines due to
“noncompliance by the airline with certification requirements for Russia’s civil aviation, violations of the established norms of flying hours, working and relaxation time.” The action came after it was discovered that Tatarstan Airlines breached rules regarding personnel training and rest times for flight and cabin crew. Currently there’s a political wrestling match going on whether or not to ban planes over twenty years old.
In my opinion? They could buy all the new planes they want, but unless they supplement with proper training and rest protocols, safety issues will remain the same.
A Saab 91C Safir was on a demo flight during an air show, and suffered engine trouble. He turned back, but crashed and burned at Söderhamn Airport in Sweden. The crash started a wild fire, and a lot of smoke.
The pilot died in the crash. The rest of the air show was cancelled. The pilot’s name hasn’t been released yet.
The plane was manufactured in 1960 and crashed on June 1.
