    Where: Lethbridge County Airport
    When: July 23, 2010
    Who: pilot Capt. Brian Bews
    Why: Practicing for the Alberta International Air Show, the 419 Moose Squadron
    jet olled right and nosedived, sputtered and emitted smoke, before the jet exploded in flames. The pilot ejected from the plane, and survived with minor injuries. The one other hornet in the show may or may not perform in the airshow.

    British Airways Flight Diverts to Lisbon due to Smoke Indication

    British Airways flight BA-2732 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Lisbon, Portugal, on February 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Gatwick Airport, United Kingdom, to Lanzarote, Spain, was diverted due to a smoke indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    7 Dead, Over 14 Injured as Plane Crashes during Shoreham Airshow

    planeA Cold War-era Hawker Hunter jet crashed during Shoreham Airshow at Shoreham Airport in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, United Kingdom, on August 22.

    The plane was flying a loop when it went down, hitting several vehicles on A27.

    At least 7 people were killed in the crash.

    The pilot sustained serious injuries and was flown to Royal Sussex County Hospital. At least 13 others were also injured.

    The event was cancelled due to the crash.

    Air Canada Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Pennsylvania

    Air CanadaAir Canada Express flight 7316 made an emergency landing at the Johnstown Cambria County Airport in Pennsylvania, on February 27.

    The plane, en-route from Raleigh to Toronto, was diverted after a passenger reported smoke above his seat.

    The plane landed uneventfully and was taken for inspection. All the passengers and crew members remained safe.

    An airline spokesperson said that the plane experienced a minor electrical problem.

    yanair Plane Makes Emergency landing at London Stansted Airport R

    RyanairRyanair flight FR-4215 made an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, England, on May 14th.

    The plane was flying from Parma, Italy, when the crew reported a flaps problem and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Skywest Airlines Jet Returns to Charlotte Due to Flaps Problem

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines flight UA-5711 had to make an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 10th.

    The Embraer ERJ-175, operated by Skywest Airlines, took off for O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, but had to return shortly afterwards due to problem with flaps.

    The plane landed safely. There were 76 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
