PIA Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Nose Gear Problem

Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-212 made an emergency landing in Islamabad, Pakistan, on August 25th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was on approach to Islamabad when the crew reported a nose gear problem and went around.

The crew worked the related checklists and subsequently landed safely on second approach.

Everyone aboard remained safe.

An Aerosucre flight had to reject takeoff from Bogota, Colombia, on August 23rd.

The Boeing 737-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Puerto Carreno, Colombia, when the crew noticed a blown nose tire and rejected takeoff.

The plane became disabled on the runway. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

The plane flying from Atlanta, Georgia, was on approach to Newport News when the crew reported a possible nose gear steering issue and declared an emergency.

Trans Maldivian Plane makes Crash Landing in Maldives

A Trans Maldivian flight made a crash landing at Velana International Airport, Malé, Maldives, on May 27th.

The de Havilland DHC-6-300 flying from Rangali Island, Maldives, had just landed when it tipped over to its left and its nose and left wing was submerged in the water.

All 9 passengers and 3 crew members were taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

The aircraft sustained partial damage.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Claremont Municipal Airport

A small plane made an emergency landing at Claremont Municipal Airport, New Hampshire, on May 3rd.

The plane was returning from Nashua, New Hampshire, when the pilot reported that he was unable to lower the landing gear. Airport authorities said in a new release, “After exhausting all possible remedies, the pilot advised that he would be attempting a landing with only the nose gear down and locked… The pilot came in on Runway 29 and set the plane down and it skidded to a halt.”

The pilot, John Wilson, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, remained unharmed.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Florida; No Injuries Reported

A small plane made an emergency landing in Everglades, Florida, on November 13th.

The Cessna 152 plane, carrying two people, went down into a swamp on mile marker 47 near Tamiami.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Mike Jachles, “When that airplane came down into the swamp, the two men told our firefighters that the nose gear head caused the plane to flip over.”

Both occupants of the plane remained uninjured.

Pilot Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Alaska

A small plane crashed near the town of Butte in Alaska, on October 29th.

Authorities said the Cessna 172 plane crashed into a Knik River gravel bar.

The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as 25-year-old Ray Justen.

According to Alaska National Transportation Safety Board chief Clint Johnson, “Witnesses said this airplane came in, made a touch-and-go on a gravel bar and during a fairly steep climb out there was an aerodynamic stall…The airplane descended nose-first and struck the gravel bar.”

United Airlines Plane Diverts to Shannon Airport

The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Belfast International Airport, United Kingdom, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted due to an unsafe nose gear indication.

The plane landed safely. There were 121 passengers and 9 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
