    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cockpit

    Lufthansa flight LH-8365 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hyderabad, India, on March 30th.

    The plane took off for Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Seven EgyptAir Planes Divert and Make Emergency Landing in Egypt

    EgyptAirEgyptAir flights 631, 650, 664, 834, 921, 959, 969 had to divert and make emergency landing at Sharm El-Sheikh and El-Ghardaga Airports, Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, on April 3rd.

    According to sources, the planes en-route to China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Eritrea and India were mid-air when they were told to divert due to low visibility in the air.

    All seven planes landed safely. The passengers onboard remained unharmed.

    Swiss Plane Diverts to Vienna due to Engine Problem

    swissairSwiss International Air Lines flight LX-178 made an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on November 22.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane, en-route from Zurich, Switzerland, to Singapore, was diverted after one of its engines malfunctioned.

    The plane landed safely in Vienna after dumping off extra fuel.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Lufthansa Engine Emergency in Poland


    On May 21, 2013, a Lufthansa Bombardier CRJ took off at 6 a. m. from Katowice Poland and developed an engine problem. Pilots returned to Katowice and made a safe landing reportedly with an engine fire. The affected engine was shut down.

    The plane landed at approximately 7 with about an hour spent in the air. All traffic throughout the airport was stopped at the time.

    The fire brigade was ready and the medical responders were immediately on the scene but no injuries were reported. After the plane landed safely, the 63 passengers and four crew were evacuated.

    Passengers were provided alternative flights.

    United Airlines Plane Diverts to Ireland due to Engine Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-125 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland, on July 20th.

    The Boeing 767-300 flying from Athens, Greece, Newark, New Jersey, had to divert due to a problem with one of its engines.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 199 passengers and 12 crew members remained safe.
