    Air China Flight Diverted, Delayed Due to Fire Cracker Search

    What: Air China Boeing 737-800 en route from Sanya to Beijing (China)
    Where: Nanning
    When: Mar 6th 2012
    Why: When a passenger found a string of fire crackers and turned them over to the flight attendants, the plane divert to Nanning where everyone disembarked with their luggage, and had to go through scans again. Everyone then re-entered the plane, and it continued to make a safe landing in Beijing.

    One does wonder how the fire-crackers made it aboard to begin with.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Portugal

    American Airlines flight AA-206 made an emergency landing at Lajes Field, Portugal, on February 16th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Milan-Malpensa Airport, Italy, was diverted after the crew noticed multiple system failures.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Condor Airlines Jet Diverts to Denver International Airport

    condor airlinesA Condor Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Denver International Airport, Colorado, on August 28.

    Authorities said the plane, en-route from Las Vegas to Frankfurt, was escorted by two fighter jets after the pilot declared an in-flight emergency due to a ‘disturbance on the plane.’

    The Boeing 767 landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

    According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, “The disturbance aboard the flight was deemed a customer service issue and not a life-threatening matter and the airline handled the matter according to their policy for customer service related matters. No arrest was made.”

    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Salt Lake City

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-604 had to return and make an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 26th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Los Angeles, California, but had to turn back after one of the engines caught fire.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and ten people aboard remained safe.

    Student Group aboard D.C. United Plane During Flat Tire Landing

    What: United Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Houston,TX to Washington DC
    Where: Washington
    When: Apr 9th 2012 11:15 am
    Who: 122 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: On landing in Washington, the plane suffered two blown rear tires.

    The plane was towed to the terminal.

    No injuries were reported.

    Fourteen students and chaperones from Mt. Carmel Louisiana were aboard, and were interviewed by a TV station after the rough landing in Washington DC. They said the landing was rough, and praised the pilot for being so calm.

    Another group of fourteen joining them flew in on a different plane from Atlanta. They will all be returning to Lafayette on Friday, and they say none of them have developed a fear of flying.

    Yakutia Airlines Flight Turns Back due to Open Door Indication

    Yakutia Airlines flight R3-497 made an emergency landing in Yakutsk, Russia, on January 5th.

    The plane took off for Blagoveshchensk, Russia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to indication of an open door.

    The plane landed safely. There were 50 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.
