Philippine Airlines Express Flight Returns to Manila due to Landing Gear Problem
A Philippine Airlines Express flight had to return and make an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, Philippines, shortly after 7 a.m. on September 23.
The flight PR-2811, which was headed to Davao, Philippines, was returned after a problem in the aircraft’s landing gear was discovered.
The Airbus 320 landed uneventfully and no injuries were reported.
According to the initial investigation, the problem was in the nose landing gear of the aircraft.
The plane again departed for Davao shortly after 8 a.m.

Fifteen minutes after flying through a storm and strong turbulence, there was an electrical short-circuit. There is speculation that the plane may have been hit by lightning.
Search planes left Fernando de Noronha Island looking for signs of the plane concentrating in an area 230 miles off the northeast Brazil coast. Though there is not radar over the entire ocean, the black box will be emit a signal even if it is under water.
The flight left Rio at 7 p.m. and was expected in Paris on Monday at 11:15 a.m. By now, fuel would have run out.
Families of the missing are being brought to an information centre at Charles de Gaulle airport.

Virgin Atlantic flight VS-3 made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on January 17th.
The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back due to an oil quantity indication for one of the engines.
The plane landed back safely. All two hundred and forty-five passengers aboard remained safe.

We presume the pilots did a fly-by that was the source of the visual conformation of the issue at hand.
An hour and a half after takeoff, with emergency crews on standby, the pilots landed back in Capetown (3.20pm), and was towed.
Passengers were provided hotel accommodations. The replacement flight was scheduled for Jan 5, 2012.
