    Horizon Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Yakima, WA

    Horizon Air flight QX-2399 had to divert for an emergency landing in Yakima, Washington, on May 29th.

    The plane heading from Boise, Idaho, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after the crew noticed an electrical burning odor on-board.

    The plane landed safely. All 82 people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: US Airways/ PSA Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Gainesville,FL to Charlotte,NC
    Where: Gainesville
    When: Jan 24th 2011
    Why: While en route, the flight developed engine trouble.

    The flight returned to Gainesville and made a safe landing within half an hour.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Diverts to Nebraska due to Engine Problem

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight WN-1797 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Eppley Airfield, Omaha, Nebraska, on June 1st.

    The Boeing 737-700, heading from Phoenix, Arizona, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, was mid-air when the crew reported a problem with one of its engines.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    Slat Problem in Boeing 737

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Oakland,CA to Denver,CO
    Where: Oakland
    When: Apr 5th 2011
    Who: 103 passengers
    Why: After take-off, the plane indicated a slat problem. The crew returned to Oakland and made a safe landing. It was replaced by another 737, which flew passengers to Denver.

    British Airways Engine Shut Down over Atlantic

    What: British Airways Boeing 777-200 en route from Santa Maria Azores Islands (Portugal) to London Heathrow
    Where: Atlantic
    When: Oct 19th 2011
    Why: While en route to Portugal, one of the plane’s four engines (right engine) had to be shut down after experiencing a problem with the oil pressure. The flight diverted to Lisbon, and made a safe landing.

    The same plane had had a similar problem on October 16th, and had diverted at that point to Santa Maria.
