    Loganair Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Aberdeen Airport

    LoganairLoganair BE6916 made an emergency landing at Aberdeen International Airport in Scotland, United Kingdom, on November 10.

    It is believed that the plane, en-route from from Glasgow to Sumburgh, was diverted due to a potential engine issue. According to an airline spokesperson, “Following a cautionary indication the captain elected to shutdown the aircraft’s right engine and diverted to Aberdeen airport.”

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 10 passengers and 3 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The passengers were accommodated in another flight.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Pennsylvania due to Smell of Smoke

    United Airlines flight UA-1165 had to make an emergency landing in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on February 27th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Newark, New Jersey, to Los Angeles, California, was diverted due to a smell of smoke in the cabin, which appeared to be originating from a lavatory.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Crashes at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport; 2 Injured

    A nine-seat single-engine plane crashed at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, Georgia, on January 6.

    Authorities said the Cobalt Air 727, a Pilatus PC-12 plane, developed some issues while it was taking off for Lexington, Kentucky. The pilot was attempting to land back when the plane ran off the runway 1 and came to stop in a ditch.

    There were two people aboard at the time; both of them were injured. They were taken to Memorial University Medical Centre.

    The FAA will investigate.

    Airbus Emergency Landing in Greece

    What: Livingston Airbus A321-200 en route from Greece to Italy
    Where: Athens
    When: Sep 19th 2009
    Who: 211 passengers and 7 crew
    Why: When smoke was detected on board, the plane diverted to Athens and landed safely while an emergency crew waited. No source was given for the smoke but the plane is apparently back in service.

    Cargolux Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kuala Lumpur

    Cargolux flight CV-7303 made an emergency landing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 16th.

    The plane took off for Zhengzhou, China, but had to turn back after the crew noticed fire and smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
