    May 2012: 6 Near collisions over Moscow Alleged

    Although the Control tower denies this number, in the past three months, Moscow ATC (union) reported six near collisions over Moscow.:

    • March 7: at Domodedovo Airport, Swiss Air jet and a Boeing 737 averted by an alarm 15 seconds before a collision would have happened. Both were landing
    • March 22: at Ostafyevo International Airport: During takeoff
    • April 25: Vnukovo International Airport: Trans Aero Boeing 737 and Lufthansa Boeing 737 nearly collided while landing.

    Other jets involved are said to be Falcon-900, and ATR-72.

    The incidents are presumably due to old equipment, firing of established experienced personnel, new staff and recent reorganization of the airspace routing over Moscow.

    Pilot Survives After 1951 Cessna L19 Crashed in Waters of Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg

    A 1951 Cessna L19 “Bird Dog” crashed in Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, on Sunday, March 23,

    The plane owned by Advertising Air Force fell into the water 300 to 400 yards south east of the Bayboro Harbor Coast Guard Base.

    The 36 year old pilot, Robert L. Gilchrist, was uninjured. The coast guard reported that a good Samaritan managed to pull the pilot from the cockpit of the crashed plane. There were no other passengers on board.

    Bulgarian Air Charter Plane Returns to Bulgaria after Engine Shut Down

    Bulgarian Air Charter flight IT-1113 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Varna Airport, Aksakovo, Varna, Bulgaria, on July 11th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-82, after taking off for Germany, had just climbed out of Varna when the crew needed to shut down its right side engine, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    Aerolineas Argentinas Flight Rejects Take-Off From JFK Airport

    Aerolineas Argentinas Airlines flight AR-1301 had to reject take off from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on February 9th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane was accelerating to take off for Buenos Aires, Argentina, when the crew rejected take-off due to an engine stall.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    U.S. Coast Guard Plane Makes Emergency Landing at PIE

    A U.S. Coast Guard plane made an emergency landing at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, Florida, on December 21.

    The crew of the C-130 Hercules plane, flying from Air Station Clearwater, declared emergency after noticing a vibrating sound coming from one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely with three engines. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    S7 Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    S7 Airlines flight S7-3278 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Surgut, Russia, on August 23rd.

    The plane heading from Norilsk to Novosibirsk, Russia, was diverted due to an issue with the cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
