    US Airways Flight Diverts to Greensville

    On January 30, 2013, a U.S. Airways Bombardier CRJ 200 was en route from Tallahassee, Fla. to Charlotte, NC with 19 passengers and three crew when a strong odor was smelled in the cabin.

    Pilots diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport where they made a safe landing.

    A bus was provided for passengers to complete the trip.

    Ural Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    Ural Airlines flight U6-1126 made an emergency landing in Sochi, Russia, on July 2nd.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Bodrum, Turkey, to Kazan, Russia, was diverted after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and ninety-nine passengers and seven crew members remained unharmed.

    Austrian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Vienna

    Austrian Airlines flight OS-687 had to return and make an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on August 4th.

    The plane took off for Minsk, Belarus, but had to turn back due to a defective cockpit indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    After Electrics Fail, Hard Landing in Anchorage blows 14 tires on Southern Air Landing

    What: Southern Air Boeing 747-200F en route from Miami to Anchorage
    Where: Anchorage International Airport
    When: Sept 11, 2012
    Who: crew
    Why: Outside of Anchorage, all four main power generators on the Southern Air Boeing quit; the plane had a complete electrical failure. They made the rest of the flight on battery power, which was nearly depleted by the time they reached Anchorage.

    The Southern Air cargo jet landed in Anchorage on backup power and without communication until 13 minutes before landing; the landing was hard and fast without reverse thrusters. No one was injured, although on landing, 14 of the Of the jet’s 18 tires blew out. Emergency services were on standby awaiting a fire.

    The previous owner of the plane was Saudi Air.

    Miniliner sans Radio Escorted to France

    What: Miniliner Fokker 27-500 (Dutch Air Cargo) en route from Madrid to Liege
    Where: near Troyes France
    When: Aug 13th 2009
    Who: 2 crew
    Why: While en route, the flight lost radio and transponder. The French Air Force provided two two Mirage F1 jets and a patrol reconnaissance to escort the plane to land safely in Chalons France.

    Small Plane Crashes into a House in Indiana; 2 Injured

    A single-engine Cessna plane crashed into a house in Vigo County, Indianapolis, on August 25th.

    The plane was carrying two people at the time of crash.

    Both the passengers were airlifted to hospital.

    The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
