Ural Airlines Flight Diverts to Volgograd due to Medical Emergency

Ural Airlines U6-893 made an emergency landing in Volgograd, Russia, on January 19th.

The plane heading from Moscow, Russia, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was diverted after some passengers reported feeling sick.

The plane landed safely. At least two people were taken to a hospital while several others received treatment at the airport.

The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Domodedovo International Airport, Russia, was attempting to land during heavy rain.

The Airbus A321-200 was flying from Chisinau, Moldavia, when on final approach, the crew reported an unsafe gear and requested an emergency landing.

The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron. All 112 people aboard remained unharmed.

Plane-Catering Truck Collision Injures a Flight Attendant at Dubai Airport

An Emirates flight catering truck collided with a Urals Airline Airbus A320 at the Dubai International Airport, resulting in flight attendant Marina Zhelyamova getting injured. None of the 128 passengers were injured.

According to media reports, the plane was about to take off for Russia when the catering truck smashed into its tail. The collision made the female flight attendant to fall out through the open door.

Marina Zhelyamova was immediately taken to the hospital with a concussion, and later had surgery.

Rostov-on-Don plane skids off runway

A Ural Airlines Airbus A320-214 en route from Moscow (Domodedovo airport) to Rostov-on-Don, ran off the runway on landing.

The plane was towed to the parking lot. Passengers were carted to the gate.

There were 119 people aboard with no injuries reported.

The Airbus damaged two runway lights, but airport operations are continuing as usual.

Ural Airlines Emergency Landing in Kazan


On Jan 25, 2013, a Ural Airlines Airbus A321-211 with 220 aboard was en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Kazan Russia.

On approach to Kazan in poor visibility at 3:40 am local time, the first landing approach was aborted, and the rear fuselage of the plane struck an antenna. There is also a mention of an on board system failure.

Pilots made a safe landing on the next approach in spite of damage the rear fuselage contact area and brake line. We have heard of no reported injuries.

The investigation is underway.

Who: 130 passengers and 7 crew
Why: Just after takeoff, the plane’s navigation system indicated a failure issue. Although the system is reported to have recovered after a quarter of an hour, the pilots returned to the Tolmachyovo airport in Novosibirsk where they made a safe landing.

Passengers waited for a replacement jet.

Why: While en route from Bourgas to Ekaterinburg, the plane developed a hydraulic problem. (Specific details about the hydraulic problem have not been released.)

The flight continued to Koltsovo Airport in the Urals where it made a safe landing.

Who: 143 passengers and 8 crew
Why: While landing at Ekaterinburg while the runway was covered in ice, and although ATC informed the “that the runway condition was good and permitted a safe landing,” the plane did not respond to proper braking and overran the runway.

Russian investigators are investigating.

Apparently Russian airport crews don’t bother to salt, plow or otherwise make their runways more safe. Or maybe this was just a particularly lazy crew.
