    What: Restored Yak 18T en route to Kingaroy
    Where: Crows Nest, Australia
    When: December 3, 2009
    Who: PILOT Neil Dunn, 56, and 13 year old passenger
    Why: The pilot encountered engine trouble at 10.45am. The bush area (north) that was in their flight plan would have had nowhere to land.

    Referring to the electrical wires Dunn had to dodge to make the emergency landing in his paddock, the amazed farmer said, “I don’t know how they’re not dead.”

    Southwest Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Iowa

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines Flight 3809 on its way from Minneapolis-St. Paul airport to Denver, had to divert and make an emergency landing at Sioux City airport in Iowa, at about 2:40 p.m. on June 29.

    The decision to divert and make an emergency landing was made after the pilot noticed a power warning light flashing in the cockpit.

    The Boeing 737, with 143 passengers and 5 crew members aboard, then landed without incident after remaining in the air for about 90 minutes.

    Southwest spokeswoman Michelle Agnew said that the pilot adopted a cautious route although the situation was not that dire.

    Sioux City airport operations manager John Backer said that the passengers were provided a replacement plane to resume the journey after waiting for three hours in the lounge.

    Air Peace Flight Returns to Lagos due to Cabin Pressure Issue

    Air Peace flight 7252 had to return for an emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 25th.

    The plane took off for Owerri, Nigeria, but had to turn back due to an issue with the cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport due to Medical Emergency

    United Airlines flight UA-961 made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on February 20th.

    The plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted after an elderly passenger suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The patient was pronounced dead upon landing.

    Icelandair Flight Diverts to Boston due to Smell of Rubber in Aft Cabin

    Icelandair flight FI-828 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 30th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Keflavik, Iceland, was diverted after a strong smell of rubber was noticed in the aft cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Boston

    United Airlines flight UA-107 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 29th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Munich, Germany, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
