United Airlines flight UA-107 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 29th.
The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Munich, Germany, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

What: Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Orlando to Montreal

Why: After a normal lift-off and flight, on approach to Montreal, birds struck the plane’s right wing lodging the flaps in an extended position. Despite the slat problem, the plane landed safely within 20 minutes of the strike.
What: Delta /Atlantic Southeast Airlines 50-seat CRJ-200 Bombardier en route from Columbus to Atlanta
Where: Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
When: June 11, 2009
Who: 19 passengers and 3 crew
Why: On approach to Atlanta, the left main gear failed to extend, in spite of extended efforts. After a partial gear landing, the plane ended up off runway 27 right. No one was reported to be injured.
A small plane made an emergency landing at Danbury Municipal Airport in Connecticut, on April 25.
Authorities said the pilot requested an emergency landing due to possible electrical fault in the aircraft.
The plane landed uneventfully and no injuries were reported.
The incident is being investigated.
Air India flight AI620 had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India, on March 28th.
The plane, flying from Hyderabad, was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke was detected in the undercarriage.
The plane landed eventfully. All 120 passengers aboard were safely evacuated.

What: American Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from New York to Milan
Where: New York

Who: 218 passengers and 12 crew
Why: The American Airlines Boeing rejected take-off due to an undisclosed issue. A replacement jet was provided.
A small plane made an emergency landing on a golf course at 80200 block of Via Valerosa, La Quinta, California, on April 17.
Authorities said the single-engine Piper aircraft flipped over during landing.
According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department, “It appears the plane experienced mechanical failure causing the pilot to conduct an emergency landing on the golf course… The pilot was the only occupant inside the plane and no one was injured during this incident.”
The FAA is investigating the incident.
