    Cracked Windshield Prompts Delta Airlines Emergency Landing

    DeltaA Delta Airlines flight, operated by ExpressJet, made an emergency landing at Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport in Alabama at around 9:25 a.m. on November 8.

    The airport authorities said that the flight, on its way from Atlanta to Tulsa, Oklahoma, was diverted due to cracked windshield.

    The CRJ-900 aircraft landed uneventfully and all 20 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    ExpressJet spokesperson said that an alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

    The cause of crack is not clear at the moment.

    Fuzhou Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Fuzhou, China

    Fuzhou AirlinesFuzhou Airlines flight FU-6509 had to return and make an emergency landing in Fuzhou, China, on August 18th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Kunming, China, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike that damaged a pitot tube.

    The plane landed uneventfully after burning off excess fuel. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Fighter Jets Escort Korean Airlines Plane to Stuttgart, Germany

    Korean Airlines flight KE-917 was intercepted by two supersonic fighter jets on July 15th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Zurich, Switzerland, was over Berlin, Germany, when it lost communication with the ATC.

    The German Air Force subsequently dispatched two fighter jets that escorted the plane to Stuttgart, Germany.

    The plane landed safely in Stuttgart. All two hundred and eleven passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Delta Flight Returns to Grand Rapids

    What: Delta en route from Grand Rapids to Detroit
    Where: Gerald R Ford International Airport
    When: March 19 2011
    Who: 55 passengers
    Why: After departure from Grand Rapids, the plane developed smoke in the cockpit. The pilot returned to the airport where he made a safe landing. Passengers disembarked on the runway and were ported back to the terminal.

    Finnair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Helsinki

    Finnair flight AY-348 made an emergency landing in Helsinki, Finland, on October 1st.

    The plane flying from Joensuu, Finland, was descending toward Helsinki when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a technical failure.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Peruvian Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff From Cuzco, Peru

    Peruvian Airlines flight P9-213 had to reject takeoff from Cuzco, Peru, on June 4th.

    The Boeing 737-500 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Lima, Peru, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a configuration warning.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    According to Peru’s Ministry of Transport, the crew rejected takeoff due to a maintenance indication.
