    Iberia Flight Returns to Mexico City due to Landing Gear Problem

    Iberia flight IB-6402 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mexico City, Mexico, on July 18th.

    The Airbus A340-600 plane took off for Madrid, Spain, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    All Nippon Airways Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    ANAAll Nippon Airways flight NH-1899 made an emergency landing in Sapporo, Japan, on June 20th.

    The plane was flying from Aomori, Japan, when the crew needed to shut down an engine due to an unusual odor on-board.

    The plane landed safely. All 41 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Alaskan Airlines Emergency Landing in San Jose


    An Alaskan Airlines de Havilland DH8 en route from San Jose to Boise Idaho developed a fire in the right engine and made an emergency landing when it returned to the San Jose airport.

    Emergency services were on standby. None of the 47 passengers or six crew reported any injuries.

    The odor of burned metal was in the cabin, but no fire was found. Passengers were provided alternatives.

    US Airways 757 Emergency Landing in Wilmington

    What: U.S. Airways flight HP-9226, a 757 registration N934UW en route from Fort Lauderdale to Philadelphia
    Where: Wilmington’s International Airport
    When: 6:00 Feb 20, 2009
    Who: 190 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: Less than an hour into the flight, the plane lost pressure in its cabin, and the pilot made an emergency landing at ILM. Passengers were flown the rest of the way on a Airbus A321-200 which collected them after nearly a 6 hour delay.

    Emirates Flight Diverts to India due to Medical Emergency

    EmiratesEmirates flight EK440 had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India on August 9th.

    The plane, heading from Dubai to Adelaide, Australia, was diverted after an elderly passenger, identified by some media sources as B Peter Richard, of Sydney, died onboard.

    The plane landed uneventfully and later returned to Dubai due to Adelaide International Airport’s night-time flight restrictions.

    The flight was scheduled to depart at 11 p.m.
