    Qantas Flight Diverts to Jakarta due to Low Visibility

    QantasQantas QF51 made an emergency landing at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 29.

    The plane, heading from Brisbane, Australia, to Singapore, was diverted after the pilot reported low visibility due to haze. General manager of Jakarta’s Air Traffic Service Centre, Bambang Rianto, said the pilot reported that visibility was below the safety threshold limit of 1400 meters.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was hurt.

    Azur Air Flight Returns to Moscow due to Cabin Pressurization Problem

    Azur Air flight ZF-5555 had to return and make an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on June 28th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Varadero, Cuba, but had to turn back due to an issue with cabin pressurization.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Shaheen Air Plane Crash-Lands at Lahore Airport; At Least 10 Injured

    Shaheen airShaheen Air flight NL-142 crash-landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Pakistan, on November 3.

    The plane was flying from Karachi when the pilot declared emergency due to faulty landing gear.

    Authorities said one of the tires of the plane burst upon landing, causing it to skid off the runway.

    At least 10 passengers were injured in the incident and were provided medical treatment.

    The aircraft’s fuselage sustained damage.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Where: Mauritius
    When: Jul 28th 2011
    Who: 65 passengers, 13 crew
    Why: On approach to Mauritius, the flight encountered turbulence that injured 6 crew members and one passenger.

    The injured were hospitalized.

    Airbus Emergency Landing in Phuket

    Dec 20, 2012, 20:38; Air Berlin Airbus A330-223 was en route from Phuket to Abu Dhabi. Not long after takeoff, the plane developed engine problems. Smoke was detected in the cabin.

    Witnesses on the ground heard three “explosions” when the flight took off, and saw smoke.

    Pilots returned to Phuket where they made a hard (fast/heavy) landing that blew three tires. Of the 249 passengers and ten crew, none were injured. The passengers, mostly German, were provided a hotel, and a flight the next day.

    The plane was sprayed to cool it down and sent to be examined by maintenance.

    SriLankan Airlines Plane Returns to India after Engine Failure

    Srilankan airlinesSriLankan Airlines flight UL-168 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport, Kochi, Kerala, India, on May 18th.

    The Airbus A321-200, flying to Colombo, Sri Lanka, had to return due to engine failure.

    The plane landed safely.
