Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter Plane makes Safe Landing in Germany after Tyre Deflation

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) flight AB-8883 made a safe landing at Düsseldorf Airport, Germany, on July 3rd.

The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying on behalf of Air Berlin from Florence, Italy, was mid-air when the crew got information about tyre debris found on the runway after departure.

The plane landed safely after entering a hold.

No one was injured.

Inspection revealed that one of the plane tyres was deflated.

TUIFly Plane Diverts to Greece due to Electrical Problems

TUIFly flight HG-2273 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Athens International Airport, Greece, on June 30th.

The Boeing 737-800 flying on behalf of FlyNiki and Air Berlin from Heraklion, Greece, to Berlin Tegel, Germany, had to divert due to electrical problems.

The plane landed safely.

The passengers were accommodated in hotels till the aircraft was repaired.

Air Berlin Jet Diverts to Turkey to Kick Out Elderly Woman for Using Wrong Toilet

air berlinAn Air Berlin flight made an emergency landing at Erzurum Airport in Turkey, on October 21.

The pilot requested an emergency landing after an elderly Slovakian woman used the toilet reserved for business class travelers. The plane was en-route from Vienna, Austria to Abu Dhabi, UAE at the time. According to Edita Kmetova, 60, she got sick mid-flight and had to use business class toilet because economy class toilet was already in use. When she came out, the pilot, business class passengers, and stewardesses confronted her and handcuffed her for the rest of the flight.

The plane landed safely in Erzurum. According to the airport manager Abubekir Özcan, he asked the crew to un-cuff her and took her for questioning. However, since she had no criminal record, she was released.

Özcan also said he had requested the pilot to allow Kmetova to continue her journey as she had no money and looked devastated. But the pilot took off without her.

Air Berlin Plane Diverts to Cologne Bonn Airport

Air downloadBerlin flight AB-7001 had to make an emergency landing at Cologne Bonn Airport, Germany, on July 20.

The airbus A330-200 was heading towards Dusseldorf, Germany, from Miami, Florida, when its main gear tires lost pressure, forcing the pilot to divert.

The plane landed safely. All the passengers aboard remained unhurt.

The flight resumed after replacing wheels.

Airbus Emergency Landing in Phuket

Dec 20, 2012, 20:38; Air Berlin Airbus A330-223 was en route from Phuket to Abu Dhabi. Not long after takeoff, the plane developed engine problems. Smoke was detected in the cabin.

Witnesses on the ground heard three “explosions” when the flight took off, and saw smoke.

Pilots returned to Phuket where they made a hard (fast/heavy) landing that blew three tires. Of the 249 passengers and ten crew, none were injured. The passengers, mostly German, were provided a hotel, and a flight the next day.

The plane was sprayed to cool it down and sent to be examined by maintenance.

Who: 374 passengers
Why: After take-off, the flight developed problems with the cockpit instrumentation, and returned to the airport to make a safe landing. Passengers were provided an alternative plane.

Who: 124 passengers
Why: Because on the runway, the plane indicated conflicting airspeed, the pilot rejected takeoff and returned safely to the gate. A replacement flight was provided. On Jan 3, another (different) Air Berlin Boeing also rejected takeoff because of conflicting airspeed, but ended up in a runway overrun.

Why: During snowy weather, the pilot rejected takeoff. Unable to stop quickly enough, the plane overran the runway. Passengers debarked via emergency stairs while the plane remained stuck.
