    Cathay Dragon Flight Makes Emergency Landing in China

    Cathay Dragon flight KA-621 made an emergency landing in Fuzhou, China, on October 11th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane heading from Hangzhou to Hong Kong, China, was diverted after the crew received an engine fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    NextJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Stockholm

    NextJet flight 2N-251 made an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on September 5th.

    The plane flying from Karlstad, Sweden, was on approach to Stockholm when the crew reported a gear issue and declared an emergency.

    The plane went around and subsequently landed safely on second approach.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    TransAsia Plane Returns to Songshan Airport

    TransAsiaTransAsia flight GE507 returned and made an emergency landing at Songshan Airport in Taipei, Taiwan, on February 21.

    The plane took off from Songshan Airport for Makung Airport in Penghu County but had to turn back immediately after the captain reported issues with signals involving torque.

    The plane landed back safely shortly after 1 p.m. and was taken for inspection.

    The airline accommodated passengers in another flight.

    Buffalo: Comair Icing Problem

    What: Delta/Comair Canadair CRJ-100 en route from New York City to Buffalo
    Where: Buffalo Niagara International Airport
    When: Mar 14th 2010 11:45 a.m.
    Who: 53 passengers
    Why: While en route ten minutes before landing, the flight crew reported their left engine anti-ice system had developed a problem. They landed safely.

    Is “anti-ice” system a synonym for pitot tubes? If so, please note that this non-fly-by-wire plane managed to land safely in spite of whatever problems developed.

    NJ: Safe Landing w/o Nose Gear

    Where: Essex County Airport
    When: 12/12/2009 6:00 pm
    Who: 4 passengers
    Why: While on approach to Essex County Airport, the turboprop developed a nose gear problem. The plane made several passes so that ATC could see the landing gear.

    Emergency crews were standing by.

    The plane landed without the gear extended, minimal damage
    and no human injury.

    United Airlines Plane Returns to Colorado due to Bird Ingestion

    United AirlinesUnited Airlines flight UA-1618 had to return and make an emergency landing at Denver International Airport, Colorado, on August 13.

    The Airbus A320-200 flying to Virginia had to return due to bird ingestion.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 153 people aboard remained safe.
