    What: Southwest Airlines Flight 1040 Boeing 737-500 en route from Chicago to Fort Myers
    Where: Columbus, Ga
    When: Jun 14th 2009
    Who: 122 people on board
    Why: Over Columbus, the plane experienced low cabin pressure and performed an emergency landing. 5 hours later, the replacement Boeing picked up the stranded passengers and continued the flight. Maintenance did not release a public report of what caused the low cabin pressure, but if they tell me why, you’ll be the first to know.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at DFW Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-2169 made an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on December 1st.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane flying from Chicago, Illinois, was on final approach to DFW Airport when the crew noticed loss of airspeed indication due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Atlas Air Flight Returns to Hong Kong due to Engine Issue

    Atlas Air flight 5Y-9413 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on November 23rd.

    The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane took off for Narita International Airport, Japan, but had to turn back after the crew received an engine overheat indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Novair Flight Makes Emergency Landing on Suspicion of Flat Tire

    NOVAIRA Novair flight en-route to Chania on Greek island of Crete made an emergency landing at Gardermoen airport in Oslo, Norway, on the night of August 31.

    The crew suspected flat tire after taking off and decided to divert for emergency landing. The Airbus A321 circled around the airport for 3 hours to shed extra fuel before it safely landed. No one was injured.

    Most of the 191 passengers on board were Norwegian citizens.

    The passengers were provided an alternate flight on the morning of September 1.

    KLM Flight Returns to Amsterdam due to Flight Control Problem

    KLM flight KL-1793 returned to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 13th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Munich, Germany, but had to turn back after the crew noticed an issue with the flight controls.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Sita Air Ferry Flight makes Safe Landing in Nepal after Engine Shut Down

    Sita AirA Sita Air ferry flight make a safe emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on September 16.

    The Dornier DO-228 flying from Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Lukla, Nepal, was mid-air when its left side engine stopped working. The crew had to shut the engine down.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 3 crew members and 4 technicians aboard remained unhurt.
