    What: LAN Peru Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Puerto Maldonado to Cuzco
    Where: Cuzco
    When: Oct 26th 2009
    Who: 90 passengers
    Why: On approach to Cuzco, flight instrumentation detected an unsafe gear. After flying in a holding pattern, ultimately, the Airbus landed safely.

    Caracas-Bound Venezolana Airlines Plane Rejects Takeoff

    Venezolana Airlines flight VNE-222 had to reject takeoff from Maracaibo, Venezuela, on June 9th.

    The Boeing 737-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Caracas, Venezuela, when both nose tires burst, forcing the crew to rejected takeoff.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Sun Express Plane Collapses on its Nose in Turkey; 2 Injured

    Sun expressSun Express flight XQ-366 fell on its nose at Antalya Airport, Antalya, Turkey, on May 1st.

    The Boeing 737-800 was preparing to depart from Antalya to Paderborn, Germany, when its nose gear retracted during replacement.

    The plane collapsed on its nose.

    Two crew members received minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-6506 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 23rd.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Cancun, Mexico, to Warsaw, Poland, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Northwest Airbus Double-diversion

    What: Northwest Airlines Airbus A330-300 en route from Rome Fiumicino Italy to Atlanta,GA
    Where: Shannon, Ireland/Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky
    When: Jun 12th 2009
    Who: 285 people on board
    Why: En route, smoke developed in the cabin supposedly from the galley. On landing, Shannon fire services sprayed the right hand main gear. Passengers debarked and re-embarked. The flight reached Atlanta but after circling, weather-caused traffic congestion in Atlanta forced the flight to land in Cincinnati.

    Comair jet struck by Air France Airbus on the ground.

    What: Air France Airbus 380 en route from NY to Paris
    Where: JFK, NY
    When: April 11, 2011
    Who: Air France Airbus passengers; and Comair passengers;
    Why: A Delta/Comair Bombardier CRJ-700 (N641CA) which had just flown in from Boston was struck in the tail by the left wing of an Airbus.

    There were no injuries, but a lot of inconvenience, plus damage to both planes. (The Comair left horizontal stabilizer and the Airbus wingtip.) The Air France flight was cancelled because of the damage. Both flights were cancelled, although the Air France flight hadn’t gone anywhere. The Air France passengers had to disembark and retrieve their luggage as alternatives for reaching their destination were sorted out.

    The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
